Sydney Olympic Park.

pig, some of us have tog et by on $50 blanks and free mccafe cappucino vouchers we find so buying a hlemt isnt that much of a viable option. last time i heard of a skater suing any place was....well never.

i read a letter to the editor on the www.smh.com.au site and some lady had written in about how "it's all fine that skateboarders and rollerbladers steal martin place but what happens when they discover jumping down 10 stairs can get you hurt and that they want compensation"-single most ignorant opinion ever

oops difference is Olympic Skate Park will be a semi-privately owned facility with paying guests. Even though we'll prob have to sign a waiver to skate - it doesn't prevent them being sued if a claimant can prove they were negligent. eg - not making basic safetyy equipment mandatory.

it's the world in which we live - insurance co's call the shots.

The solution is simple. A big fuck-off sized sign that says "SKATERS SKATE AT THEIR OWN RISK. OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR INJURIES INCURRED WHILST USING THE PARK"

PIG. 13:31 10/Jun/05

I ride 50 buck blanks too
I get shit all cash because all my money is diverted elsewhere
but if it means im going to be able to skate a Fucking ace facility opps then Ill buy a freaking helmet
they'll probbly have nice "hygeinic" loaners there anyways

Foxa legal disclaimers aint worth the sign they are written on. To many people get injured then see 2 people
1) a doctor
2)a decent QC

what follows after that explains why every club in Australia is getting crippled by spiralling insurance costs and public places like vert x get shutdown.

I didn't say it in the post, but I was thinking a waiver along the same lines would be signed as well, but I don't really know shit about the legality of it all so I'll assume you're right mosu.

Waivers and signs don't mean shit!

If you want to you can sue.

If you could prove that the surface of the ramp was finished in a way that the glare from it distorted your vision and you fell, you could have a case.
That's how fucked this world is at the moment.

I met a roller instructor who was working in perth, on the last day of a 6 week course(this was a casual day out, to finish the course) one 17 yr old girl in th class lost control and ran into a ledge fracturing her ankle.

She was looked after and and said personally that she took on more than she could handle, and left.
a week later tells uncle jim(an attorney) about how she stacked it and he pushed her to sue.
$17 000 later she has a new barina, beep beep!

and coach is found guilty of neglegence for not tying her boot laces for her.

This shit happens.

Skateboarding needs to be listed as a dangerous sport and this will negate any liability to owners of facilities. So we can have 14ft bowls in every town.

THE END
