Naoshima in the south is pretty cool for a day trip from Osaka. Lots of art galleries and crazy installations and a fun place to ride about on a bicycle.
If you're into records, Japan is the place to be.
The diner style curry places are amazing.

planning to head over around late jan-feb with the miss for about 2 weeks or more.
don't know how to go about travelling it, can anyone give some insight on how i should do it?
what major cities to hit/how many days i should stay in each place/just some general information that would be helpful.
cheers!

focus on tokyo, you don't need a car (other than if you want to do the occasional day mission out of the city). Tokyo was by far my favourite.

Try and stay in Shinjuku, Shibuya or Harajuku

Question.
Gonna be spending a majority of time in Tokyo and possibly head off to different places for a day trip, would a Jr pass be beneficial? or would just buying day passes or whatever alright? Gonna be buying a JR pass anyway for 7 days to go to Osaka and Kyoto and all that, but don't know if I should get a 7 day or 14 day.

Man only some of the lines in Tokyo are JR lines, so most of the time you will be paying for a ticket to use a different line anyway... I would say no just keep it for when you use it to go to Osaka and Kyoto where that shit comes in realllll handy.
