> ST KILDA SKATEPARK DEBATE!!
Hey Melbourne skaters,
The website of St Kilda's local newspaper, the Port Phillip Leader, features a heated discussion about the St Kilda skatepark.
There are many comments from residents, who are overwhelmingly AGAINST the skatepark. Only a few skaters have spoken in favour of the skatepark. I just contributed a comment.
Post your comment, so the Port Phillip Council can see the community support for the skatepark. It only takes a few minutes.

such biased thoughts throughout that whole article
i was about the tenth or so post a couple of weeks ago, and they keep putting forward the same arguments or just rewording each others.
Cos noise at night and litter is gonna be an incredible large problem for st.kilda if they build a skatepark </sarcasm>
Alot of these people have a point, why would you want the skatepark built on the st kilda foreshore??
I agree it should go somewhere else partly because of the sand issue and also the amount of kids and their parents milling about during the summer months and using the transition as a slide.
true, but nomatter where you build it there's gonna the problem of the little kids moccos
But you can limit the amount of kids there by putting the skatepark in an area that isnt as populated by families as the st kilda foreshore.
Does bondi have issues with wandering kids and tourists?
I don't think sand would be a problem.
I often skate the hip/ledges next to St Kilda beach and there isn't too much sand. And that's way closer to the beach than the skatepark would be.
The protestors do have a point about the Albert Park vert ramp. They could build a skatepark there...
but even if they could, would they?
or would they just throw up another argument such as in that little news article?
my money's on they'd kick up a stink no matter where the park plans are movd to
Yeah, they would complain that the skatepark destroys too much grass and mud.
