the draft is in for the new healesville skatepark. a meeting will be held this saturday at 11 at the current healesville skatepark to discuss the draft and give feedback, hope you can make it.
a small bowl was a priority when the park was being designed and we were asked what we all wanted in the designs. we would like to change the current design to include a small 5ft bowl where the shelter is planned to be built as the area surrounding the park has loads of trees.
That hip placement is a little wack IMO. But looking good all in all :)
(p.s props for letting the locals have a say! More skateparks should source ideas from the locals!!)
about time i updated this. the council and convic held a meeting with a few locals to go over the first draft and discuss what needed to be improved and generally explain the design which went well. a few weeks ago i got emailed the revised plans and everyone is happy, it looks heaps better. we're now waiting for a quote to see if the design fits budget and the park is planned to be finished around mid this year which is sick seeing as we've all had to put up a health hazard for a skatepark for as long as i can remember.
we're hoping to get involved with the design of the shelter area as well seeing as it's connected to the park. we'd like to be able to use the shelter as a skateable space which would be sick and it'd open up the park heaps. i'm really happy with the plans. thanks to the few locals that came along and gave their input.
Looks sweet! If there was a standard flat ledge somewhere in there it would be perfect I think.
so a while ago i got back the draft plans for the shelter area which looked sick. that inside corner was pretty much filled out and the seats were all tight banked ledges, so even though we had a pretty small area and budget to work with we were taking full advantage of what we had and it made the park seem a lot bigger and more flowy.
i hadn't heard from anyone in a while so i sent out an email yesterday and got back the final plans that had already been approved, including the shelter and surrounding landscape. and it looks sweet, but does anyone else think it's maybe gone a step in the wrong direction? i thought the draft for the shelter really pulled the whole park and shelter together and made it one fully functional/skateable area, which is what we were aiming for from the start.
there also seems to be a new obstacle of some sort on the inside corner but i can't tell if it is or what it is. overall i'm happy as fuck to see that we're finally getting a new park, i can't complain, now i just want it to be done.
construction started recently. I've only managed to head down and check it out once but it's looking really good so far, so psyched to see this finally happening.
Looks really mellow, good warm up or warm down spot. Any updates medium?
