> R.I.P BEN PAPPAS
It saddens me deeply that in a week of serious tragedy, I have just received a message that Ben Pappas has passed away.
At the moment the only way I can express my grief is through writing, as I have long since run dry of tears for the tragedies of this world.
The first time I met Ben was at a Ramp Riot qualifyer contest at Fairfield. He must have been about 12 years old or younger at the time, and already deeply committed to vert skating. It was also the first time I met his brother Tas.
From that day forward every time I visited Melbourne Tas and Ben were two of the most welcoming friends I'd ever made in that city. It was always so much fun skating with those two, as watching them progress and push each other, as well as myself, was a joy and a pleasure.
Over the last ten years I, like many, didn't see either of them very often due to both of them acheiving their goals of having world renowned vert skating careers.
The last few times I had seen Ben was during the Billabong tours across the country. Each time we saw each other we'd catch up on life in general. Usually nothin to do with skating at all.
I'm physically and emotionally exhausted by the events of this week.
You'll always be in my heart and soul Ben. You have some good friends in company now and always. They will take care of you.
Rest in peace my friend.

i remeber the first skate magazines i got as a little kid in primary school had ben pappas interview, i was stoked on it so much...
Damm, i remember Tas and Ben literally tearing Prahran ramp apart..
Such a hard week for the Australia skate scene.
Best wishes to his family and friends during this hard time.

Ben always treated me with respect and in a world of vampire leeches remembered my name and always had time to stop and chat, no big rock star, always just a Melbourne boy done good. Hope he has found some peace.
