The corners off the hips into the smaller end of the keyhole shaped bowl needs to be a larger radius (the radius must be atleast the depth of the curve to avoid a ride occuring)

I aggree on combining the bowls (better still make a 4 leaf clover style bowl - I'll post a rough design I did for Trangie skatepark tomorow)

Do we have any dimmensions though - it's critical to get the right amount of flat so it allows you to recover/set up for shit etc etc

I've built a couple of parks for Coucil and I'm currently the works Manager at Narromine Shire Council so I may be able to talk to Council and help out.

I used to live in the Sutherland shire and have newphews in da Burg so I'd love to see something good built for the locals.

I'll ring Coucil tomorow and find out what's going on.

I mean "ridge (not ride) occuring"
Look at the plan and you can see the ridge line in the top of the small end of the keyhole bowl

I mean anything goes in a way thesedays in skateparks (who would have ever thought skateparks would be built with stairs that are meant to be ridden 10 years ago?!! but the ridege is like the bottom of a flat bank with out a radius bottom and spits you off if you try and ride through it

The Willow
The Willow 12:31 16/Dec/04

take that half round tranny bit out - those things just don't work

The Willow
The Willow 12:33 16/Dec/04

or change the shape of it...so it's more like a tit....sort of rounded on each side so it blends in with the bank.... and then prudrudes like a good firm bussie

ben k 13:54 16/Dec/04

or instead of having it prutuding (spelling) have it going inwards if you know what i mean....like tight as all fuck....fun

annnnnd.....a vert wall in the bowls.

but yer looks quite nice anyhow

Spoke to Council...

Steve Maidment is in charge but is out of the office today so I couldn't get much info- he's ringing me back so I'll keep you posted.

The guy I spoke to in the Engineering Dept. was under the impression they are awaiting grant funding from Sport & Rec (so am I for Trangie...) which is due to be announced Jan-Mar 05 (no set date - typical politicians announce it when they feel it benifits them most...)

put another rail in there and it will be perfect, thats if they build it correctly

DANGER MOUSE 00:09 17/Dec/04

so council lied once again and said that they had $450000 aside for a park but really have just ask for a $450000 grant which im sure they wont get....

$450,000 sounds very optimisticý sport and rec funding requires a minimum of 50% funding from other sources (usually Council) so they should have allocated some money alreadyý Iýll get further details when I talk to Steve.

Sport and Rec have two grant schemes for construction of recreational facilities:
1. Regional Sports Facilities Program (RSFP) for large regional type sport facilities minimum grant of $40,000 ($80,000 total project cost) to maximum grant of $200,000; applications close December each year with successful applications announced around April following year
1. Capital Assistance Program (CAP) for smaller projects grants range from $500 ý around $30,000 with the average grant around $9-10,000 applications close August each year with successful applications announced around Jan/Feb following year

See www.dsr.nsw.gov.au for more details

see 4 bowl combo design I promised to post..

Based on 9 feet curves

only in draft form but it gives you the general idea - nothing terribly new design wise. The street area is very rough and would need significant refinement.

ok my ideas on this helensburgh park,

. maybe sum rails goin down the flat banks and lower ones down the pyramid.

. change that stupid curved q/p idea that the stole from engadine, it has no purpose and get boring, opt for a normal q/p so u can transfer and grind with out falling off.

. the key holr bowl is goin to be very hard 2 pump and get speed as the top end is also round make it sqaure like the bra and it will be much betta but leave the deep end as it is...

Steve from Wollongong Council returned my call today...

Design is being handled by Paul Cambell (Mob 0401 161 134) from the "Skate Park Action Group" (see www.Helensburghweb.info/skate) so give him a call if you want to influence the design.

There are no funds allocated at this stage but it is being put to Council for consideration for inclusion in their 2005/06 budget. They are going to ask for $300,000 but at the end of the day it's up to the Councillor's to deside (so write in letters to Council to make them see it's needed).

I will try and talk to Paul to find out who is doing the design work and if there are going to be any more public meeting to discuss it...

This is the email that I got from Steve, when I asked what happened to the pervious funding that "disappeared" for the warrilla skatepark. It pays to read councils budget documents. Pay close attention to Capital works funding. Good luck with this one guys and make sure you attend as many council meeting as you can, to get your comments in the council records, as it makes it harder for them to back out of things that have strong community support.
