I saw this in the local paper and I keep meaning to go past it to see but I always forget.

They were planning to demolish the old park and put this in the same spot.

The overall park space was more than big enough that they could have easily left the old skatepark there and built beside it to make it more worthwhile but whatever.

Drove past today. Earth works look done and now starting the next stage.

The old park is completely gone, looks like it has been gone for a while - grass and seating / tables, etc there now.

I know it wasn't the best park, but at least it was something else to skate as well as the new park going to be super packed in that little size.

I hadn't been to this park in maybe 5 years but even back then there was a heap of concrete sinking issues in areas leaving big cracks and bumps where the bank hit the flat ground. Thinking maybe over the past 5 years and it got worse hence bulldozing it Mark?

Yes there are always issues which then drain funds from doing other (better) things with money being spent on small but costly maintenance, when it is more cost effective to get rid of it...

Sad but true, I know.

I guess I recall rolling one way over certain areas, or lift up / pop or bump over others which made it a bit of fun but if you didn't know it would catch you and hang you up for sure.

Looks like lots of fun!!! Can't wait to see some good skateboarding go down there... hoping there are more skateboards than bmx or scooters anyway.
