VX1000 TAPE WON'T EJECT

Lance Pattison

I was filming today and the camera was working fine for about an hour then it started beeping while flashing the eject symbol. I then tried to eject the tape and the top flicks open fine but the tape doesn't come up and open like it should.

When I look through the view finder everything on the camera works fine except I am unable to record due to the eject symbol flashing. There is also another symbol flashing in the view finder which has a line through it and a plus sign above it, any idea what that means? When I opened up the tape compartment I noticed this cable which looked like it had snapped, or is it meant to be like that?

Any ideas why this happened or how I could fix it?

You're pretty funny Jejenhausen.

I know this isn't direct advice on how to fix it but I'd say throw this up on http://forums.skateperception.com/ and see what people on there have to say if you haven't already. They have a crap ton of VX guys on there that seem to know their shit most of the time. They also have a section dedicated to malfunctions & repairs. Hope it all goes good.

walker94 - Yeh thanks man was just about to do that. Gonna email Kerry from videoelectronics aswell, he usually knows what's up.

ha ha Jeje...you also should try swearing at the camera- it definitley won't hurt the camera but it may convince it to release your tape

had a similar problem in an old camera of mine where the tape would get tangled up in the internals. would tell me to eject but then wouldnt eject.had to jam shit down there and jiggle it about till it ''let go''. you should get pretty good advice from s.p though.

ive had this happen a few times before, you can take the camera apart using this tutorial here. > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdvUdNwtCnY - james brown is tight, but mute that shit.

when you carefully take the left side of the camera slightly off you should see 2 small bits where the tape is placed. They need to be correctly aligned / placed so that you can eject an close.

* this may or may not be your problem, but its worth a try as it will most probably fix the issue an save you repair fees.

cool.
