RE: BackyardsOK I'm building a small quarter pipe for wood work at

school for my house. I have looked at some plans on the

internet and decided on the height, width and platform

(doesn't have to be big because I wont be standing on it)

can someone suggest a good transition for my

ramp and use really simple language because I

don't understand any of the ramp building

lingo. Cheers

use an 1800mm radius.

place a pole on the toe of the ramp (the small bit that the skater rides up first)
place a nail on the top of the pole. attach a 1800mm length of string. tie a marker pen/ carpenters pencil at the other end of the string then trace an arc of a circle
(arc is a bit of a circumference, google circumference as its a really important concept to have down with ramps)

most first effort ramps crap out at the "toe" due to there not being enough support here. some wise people use a very thin angled piece of wood here to give the structure a better chance of lasting.

hey Thommalilly what wood did you use on the top?
and is it water proof?

very nice b random.

um quick question wat did you weather proof it with if you did?
BB_Random27 May 2009
just outdoor varnish so it weathers it a bit but by the time i need to change it its worn enough from skating.

sparks come to adelaide with m ro one time and skate it
