Opening is on the 7th of december. Skatecomp and snowboard demo and some other shit like guitar hero comps.

Skatepark is heaps of fun. Shame half the money they spent is wasted because theyve put fucking grass all over shit that could be skateable.

What they have actually some how fluked is a lot of fun to skate though.

Save up some more cash and rebuild the 10 stair with normal sized stairs and hubbas that only pros would try good shit on.
AAUSTRALIA10 Nov 2008
RE: Geelong Waterfront Skateparkoh yeah and if you put grass at the runup for the 6 stair and rail like it suggests where structure 3 is in this picture, convic, you are fucking retarded and should never be aloud to ruin a skatepark which could have been the best in the state like you have this one.

Ive been to the park and seen the cutout where you are planning to fill with grass, theres a skateable rail DOWN THE 6 STAIR YOU CANT EVEN FUCKING ACCESS IF YOU PUT GRASS THERE!

People have saved and waited for this for probably 8-10 years.

Some of the stuff built is great and fun to skate. But you think that how much money the council is spending for us to enjoy that we would be able to enjoy every aspect and detail of it. Not just the ones you havent fucked up.

skated it today, vert wall is killer, pump hump to that hip is sweet too, mini ramp section out of the taco bit is super fun...

Well after reading the paper last week I was astonished by the budget for this gig, you ready?
1.6 million dollars. The caption was something like" skaters get 1.6$m solution" or some kind of shit.
Anyway you know what we all think, here we were earlier this year blewing and writting letters just to get a small bowl at OG which cost 140 K$ probally more but it was a fight. The blow out on your Local Jack as you would know now will nearly be the budget for a little less than Frankston , sorry not that much but the money allocated with OG and BH could of built a complete park for all skateboarding, street, tranny , vert for 500k.
Now the water front, prime position, big budget and what did we all get, some modern architecture and this with the kind of cash could of been double the size of Frankston, built everything any skater could want or need.
Now my sourgrapes is to the representation on council and it needs to be addressed. The reason they get away with this shit solutions is because everything is flogged off as "youth" when did fucking skateboarders have an age limit and the not the right to commit our views because we arent the youth who use these facilities at 4pm onwards.
You get my drift.
Dont get me started on the Ponds issue of getting a simple fix to the 9ft ramp which turned into a debacle earlier this year, let alone the plight for a brand new ramp simple ramp of an exceptle size (at least 13ft high min, we would except 40 wide but 60 would be nice) which would only cost them 100k.
I apologize for the rant, but you younger fellas (and Riana) need to speak up when the oppurtunity arises, if it ever does again and ask for support, there are crew out there that will back you and argue the point at the suit level.

Artistic concrete appears to be very expensive.

I'm sure COGG are in the mist of much backslapping on a job well done.

oh yer and there is run up for the 6 rail so dont stress. its a pretty long six/rail if i were to compair it to anything at a park it would maybe be like franga 3_3 rail exept a bit higher and not sure if its the long

Actually looking forward to seeing snow/ice in Geelong on Dec 7.Snowboarders & skateboarders hitting up the $200,000 ledge setup.
Ddrew13 Nov 2008
I dunno Marcus. I like snowboarding, looks sick in the big halfpipes and big jumps n shit, but its boring as batshit when they shovel some ice around and do a few handrails.. yes, no?
MMar_cus13 Nov 2008
Drew,
Havn't seen a bat shit yet,is it boring?
Not sure what snowboarders they are getting down but im expecting...maybe... gap-switch 270on- frontboard-270off and some good slams.
Most of the Pro/ams are good shredders on the skate as well.
They generally just experiment with what you can do with a board under your feet.Except no bails on a snowboard.
Hey!Still looking for a Knox deck?
FFowler13 Nov 2008
I went there today, it was pretty windy but the builders are nearly finished the second part.
