Nah not really. I did move up from a 7 string tho so it wasnt a huge step. Its so weird now, when i see 'normal' 6 string electrics they seem like skinny little banjo necks. The main thing I was concerned about was getting used to the fanned fretboard but that was surprisingly easy, its kinda trippy, when your playing it and looking down over the top of the frets they all seem kinda straight as they draw the angle to your eyes. Playing wise its barely noticeable that they are fanned. Definitely great having 8 strings, it really opens up your options for sounds.
