holy shit i had a dream about the g.w.c last night. this thread is making my brain drop crazy nostalgia hammers. I think the best part about it was you could catch up with people from every state at the same time, mad for the skating community.

GWC time was the best.
All the years kinda mash together though.
In 2004 there was the SOTY(I think) party at Goo with all the VIPs aka everyone up in the top room. Penny and co were rolling dice in the corner. Then muska came on and did a set wearing a white bathrobe. Slippin and I were up in the DJ booth with him getting our ultimate dance on. After a bit drew turned up with a slab on his shoulder, which he had got for free on Muskas tab. I searched high and low for a photo of us there with muska, but no one had one. I'm still dissapointed.
On the saturday night we were all going to skate the flat bars at box hill when I got a call from Steele saying he had three tickets to the GLobe/Hardcore party on the docks. Slippin, myself and a very young Josh Backman met up with Steele and got the tickets and headed down to Docklands. There was a huge line for drinks, but no one said anything if you cut the line so no one lined up for anything all night. Slippin smoked a doob with Bastien which he was hyped on for a long time after that.
The year after at the Killself prem I tried to pick up this girl I had met on MYspace, but she shut me down so I picked up her friend who is still my girlfriend.
Lincoln was in its hey day at that time as well.

and also after the party at Goo I remember waking up super early to see James Kennedy smoking out our hotel room window and eating some chocolate. He finished the chocolate and his smoke, said good bye and bailed. I just went back to sleep.

Skating in it was rad but getting kicked out of the Venue by Steven Hill was fantastic a year later...Banned from Globe events for LIFE... Now that is a sentencing...

Going to every single after party, looking at the lineup at the bar, and bailing straight away to hit a seedy pub somewhere to celebrate on our own with no lineups.

Bootlegging reynolds and when he came up to me for what I thought was going to be a 'stop filming me you cunt' comment and instead hearing 'was that last one ok?'

Seeing Ben Cox getting arriving at flinders station at midnight to catch the last day of the comp at the very instant darrel goodwin stuck a front smith down old gold.

Hearing Cox claim he might back smith it later if he could score a board of someone. HAHA

Seeing everyone attacking the brand new Federation Square and those crazy manual pads down the road from it before it was capped to death.

Seeing Cale Nuske at that fucking square silver rail blowing peoples brains apart.

Finding one of the very rare pokie dens behind some dodgy chinese take-away shop in the city.

Complaining after our first trip to melbourne how everyone was too fucking nice and looking forward to heading back to Newy where ppl get beat down for wearing the wrong shoes. And not ten minutes after said complaint seeing some guy beat a chick in the head and she collapsed onto tram tracks like a sack of potatoes.

Getting lost in the corridors of rod laver arena media section trying to find the free lunch room.

That Docklands party was OK. I had a media AAA pass and I took it upon myself to quiz professional skateboarders as to their preferred fuck stances. Omar said missionary, P-Rod said 'I don't know yet'.

Watching sparx and shane make out with every guy they could from duncombe to whole crew, then dodging bottles being thrown from the top level fucking up people everywhere, sneaking onto corse with bits of ripped up poster with 'this is not a real wristband' writtern on it, buddie scott chatting up girls with an american accent and slaying pro hoes like we were dragons, free drinks, 900 degrees party (what I can remeber it was fun?), trying to find way back to airport with no money, drunk and only an hour and a half until plane left, seeing darrel goodwin down there..

One of my favourite memories is getting smashed on free drinks at a Stencil art show in a Melbourne alley, then more free drinks at the Stussy 'First & Foremost' video premiere. Then stumbling back to City Park where Lewis Marnell was killing it in the dark. Never met him before then but he was such a nice guy and was very tolerant of our heckling and trick requests.
