Jake Duncombe Day in the Trife

Jake is an Australian skateboarding legend, not saying anything negative about his skateboarding.

It's fair to assume from the clip he is over the limit to drive. That's fucking stupid and dangerously irresponsible. You can do all the maths you like based on assumptions relating to equal portions and justify "he is probably a little bit over" but it is a cognitively immature stance that makes you look a little foolish.

Have you or your family been affected by a drunk driver? It's a stupid waste and an easily preventable tragedy.

RE: Jake Duncombe Day in the TrifeNah, it's all good. He was probably just waitin for a mate...

I wasn't having a go at Jake D himself, just having a go at the parading of drinking and stuff on this site.

Definitely an Aussie champ on the board. Was on the cover of one of the first ever ASMs I bought. However as a pro, like it or not, he is a role model, and needs to be responsible. No one's stopping people from drinking all day, but parading it like its something cool or heroic... lame, and irresponsible

the best part about skateboarding is its 90% personality.
You can like skaters for different reasons. If you choose to like robots that are boring with average lifestyles filled of doing nothing interesting thats acceptable to.

p.s getting on a high horse and ranting online is pointless, if your actually worried about something don't just type it to give you that "nice guy" rep, go out there and do something about the subject. If your that against drink driving go do something about it rather then complaining about it in the comments of a skate clip.

To some extent, no one needs to read through someones rant about whats politically correct after watching a skate clip.

Jakey clips are always dope!

I don't think the onus is on the concerned person to "go out there and do something about the subject", the onus is on people having the intellegence to leave the car at home if they want to spend the day on the piss. Pretty simple really. I'm surpsised there is any debate on the subject.

I have no issue with people posting boozey DITL's. Like it or not it is part of the culture of skateboarding and Australia in general.

Oh yeah right pacman, so it would be better if all pros showed how skateboarding is a positive outlet worthy of sponsorship by an energy drink company? There is enough fucking boring, inspirational, sentimental and positive representations of skateboarding in popular culture it could do with a little more irresponsibility. And like it or not, drinking is a massive part of skateboarding culture - especially australian skateboarding. Jake is the perfect ambassador for Aussie skating, and has always repped the booze, benis, mullets and everything else like a bloody legend.

my point is its a skateboarding website. Reading peoples shit about drink driving is just kind of annoying. I mean we all know its wrong to drink drive. Negative comments on a clip just ruin it. If i wanted to hear drink driving was bad id just look for ad breaks on a tv every 10 minutes.
after all, i only lurk skate sites to see new skate media, not peoples opinions on drink driving or other non skate related rants.

Remember its a skateboarding website.
IInsomniajosh10 Jan 2014
...it's a forum for discussions and opinions too. Sorry to ruin your viewing!

I've put in my two cents. I'm done with this thread.
..SYLVA10 Jan 2014
correct! primarily a skateboarding forum at that. Therefore when shit goes off topic its just annoying. My 2 cents.

clip was boring az

I think calling out someone for drink driving, a pro skater at that, is pretty acceptable on a forum. Shutdown enjoys being called out as a tosser every now and then, he doesn't really need you to back him up Sylvs. I don't think it's up to anyone to go out and start a campaign against Jake Duncombe's drink driving, if this place didn't have people calling out others for their stupid shit it would be boring as fuck.

Wwalker9410 Jan 2014
My bad, I thought you were backing up Shutdown but I misread. Sorry Sylvs.
..SYLVA10 Jan 2014
i just prefer to see the positives in skateboarding. calling people out on shit to make yourself feel like a better person is just lame.
This website was a lot better 10 years ago before every man and his dog went and got high horses to ride.

"Reading peoples shit about drink driving is just kind of annoying."

when you loose a mate of yours due to some dickhead being drunk on the road, then you will know what annoying is

globe part was real good

I wasnt supporting drink driving ffs, i'm just hating on trial by youtube video. Editors do all kinds of sketchy re-ordering shit to make a clip flow better so don't believe everything you see. And while your riding those high horses, why not start hating on the ciggie lifestyle shots in all these vids. Cigs kill more than anything else and thanks to all these clips glorifying it a pack of winnie blues is as much a skate fashion accessory as a pair of janoskis and a five panel.
Wwalker9413 Jan 2014
Cigarrettes kill you, drink driving kills other people.
Wwalker9413 Jan 2014
Oh, and for the record - 94,000 deaths last year in America were directly related to alcohol (overdose/poisoning/etc), with a further 1,000,000 deaths related to problems from alcohol (alcohol-caused conditions, violence, etc). 473,000 deaths are caused by smoking.

Here's a study that found heavy drinkers to be more at risk of death than smokers: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/acer.2012.36.issue-11/issuetoc

No need to mention hating on the ciggie smoking in clips, I'm well onto that. I think if I filmed myself smoking ciggies and rolling down alleys in Surry Hills I'd have a shot at turning pro.

The only thing rad about that clip was the Dachshunds... Should have just been a clip about them, pretty sure they don't drink and drive and only passively smoke...
