SO what make em good ??
Humans were designed to walk flat foot, the more support you have from shoes the worse it is for your feet. Vibams are designed to correct your stride, pronating, supernating and any other faults in your running form.
I personally don't run in them but I know they are fantastic once you get used to them as as Lazlo will tell you once you get them there is no going back.
I ran a Marathon last Sunday and I saw a few people wearing them pretty crazy but I suppose they would have been looking at me thinking the same thing.

I'm probably going to do the Gold Coast Half Marathon next year in them...or fully barefoot.
What time did you run the marathon in? I am terrified of doing that distance. I've done a half before in 1 hour 30 but a marathon is fucking nuts.

Man a HM in 1:30 is damn impressive! It was my first Marathon and I done it in 4:18:59. Don't be afraid of the distance, when you are running with other people, the atmosphere on the day, etc it's a lot different (as you would know from the HM) BUT in saying that a Marathon and HM are worlds apart.
The real race begins at 30 km and it is a mental battle just as it is physical. All I can suggest is that you get a few long runs under your belt 30, 32, 34 kms that along with proper nutrition, training & tapering and a Marathon is not as daunting as it sounds. Put it this way I think in the Melbourne Marathon I saw more people aged between 30-50 than I did 20+
How were you after the HM?

I was fucked. I was super fit though. Playing rugby and so forth. I didn't even train for it, I think I ran 10kms once in my training period. I just took it one km at a time. I used to be able to smash 5kms in about 17 minutes when I was younger.
My Dad used to run marathons so I know a bit about it. 4:18 isn't bad at all for your first. Are you going to do another?
