Both the Lucas and the new Silas are amazing. It's great to see some more unique designs.

kenny anderson cons skate really well, one of my all time favorites

I like cons, they are generally cheap compared to most other shoes, but they last a lot longer than most shoes.

RE: NEW SHOES THREADIs it just me or do a lot of or all the "skate range" of vans out now seem to fall apart much more easily and only last half as long as anything else?

I still buy new versions of the OG black/white Half Cabs, Old Skools and a few other shoes that are part of the Classics range that have a more solid feel to them, but a lot of the new colours and styles, Half Cab, Old Skool and others that are out now in the Core range just die so quickly.

From what I have seen and heard, lots of dudes are having shoes just fall off their feet, the lining coming apart, the inner crumbles, etc.

The way I see it is they are perfect to skate in from the second you tak them out of the box / put them on, but then it is all down hill from there. A couple of pairs of them that I tried on were almost too soft, or so it felt to me anyway - new Half Cabs (black/2 tone dark shadow) and new Old Skools (full black suede), just to name two in particular, but the Era Pro are all going the same way - had a couple of them when they first came out and still have them, but the newer ones just die so much more quickly I have noticed.

Any other new ones not in the skate range are still solid in the sole and upper, so I guess it is only the core skate range they have done this to.

I have a few pairs of the TNT5 as well and they are super soft and good to skate in right away, but don't last as long as the older Half Cabs or Old Skools in the sole and upper.

Anyone else noticed this or care to comment?

I remember Drew or someone said something about the new darker gum sole, questioning the quality or whatever, so I guess this is the case here.

Kkrang11 June 2012
have also noticed it but i guess thats just a choice you have to make. soft and non durable with good padding or hard and cardboardy at first but longer lasting. cupsoles are making a strong comeback anyway

Those Hermans look pretty good for an Emerica shoe.
I like where shoes seem to be going, slim and athletic, with a bit of hidden technology to reduce fatigue of your feet.
AAlex P.11 June 2012
I feel like skate shoes might be heading into one of their best stages. I like the aesthetic of super thin shoes (janoski, era...) but there is only so much simple can be done before everything looks the same. The emergence of slim yet tech is exciting, the Lucas adidas, Herman emerica and how Lakai seem to be doing simple and thin with a cupsole is a nice bit of protection.

yeh i've just thrown out some tnt5's. to be honest i thought they held up terrible. didn't last, burnt out the sole in no no time.

i remember i think it was tnt's and tnt2's.. they were sick and lasted ages. and that was when i skated everyday.

i wish they would bring out the old Rowley's again!

i recently bought these old numbers... havn't skated in them yet but.

classic shoe: the old DC Links were my fav as a young lad
PPervert Olympics12 June 2012
I'm keen to try a pair of deklines. I think they are becoming more popular now too, maybe just because half the other brands are going bankrupt.
