Well virgin, we'll be gentle. Postage is fucking expensive, especially once you start buying larger items or boxes of shoes. KArma Loop is known for its expensive shipping, which is why the discount codes are so valuable. Do some research, try out different online stores and see how you go. Most goods off the internet are available in more than one place, and even the difference between one store having an alliance with one company can mean certain goods are more expensive to ship from certain regions, so don't be scared to go to UK based mail orders.

I tend to not buy in bulk because shipping stacks up quickly, but found buying a maximum of about 5 items the best for when it comes to shipping. Also adding and subtracting certain items can have an effect on shipping. The tube of bearings you want might bump the weight over into the next category and end up costing you more than it would here.

Do other people in Adelaide who buy stuff from the US have their package go through both Melbourne and Sydney before coming to adelaide? I don't see why UPS and fedEx can't send stuff from melbourne directly to Adelaide.

I just bought some stuff from dogfunk that went from America to Melbourne to Sydney then back to Melbourne.. still waiting on it. wtf UPS?
TTheBonelessOne9 July 2011
You think Adelaide is bad, try tracking an item to Perth. Because of that ash cloud got stuck in Singapore for a week then to Melbourne, then stuck in Sydney for a week and a half waiting for the cloud to clear Perth. frustrating i tell ya....

For all those buying stuff of Karmaloop,
Put JACKSONCOSH in the "rep code" box on check out.
It'll save you 20% the first time and then 10% each time after...

Hi Gentlemen

As some of you may know. I run a skateshop and I sell stuff online. I buy all my stuff from the legit aus distributors etc etc. I guess due to the US prices I don't really sell that much.

What price I need to lower my decks/shoes to for you guys to consider buying from me. I think I probably buy stuff wholesale for more than you guys pay retail so its probably not achievable but I was just wondering.

thanks

I want to support Australian skateboarding as much as possible but when it comes to the crunch of being able to keep your product fresh and pay rent, bills etc you cannot go past the $50 pro models compared to the $140 at your local - Online you can buy the best complete money can buy for the single price of a pro model in Australia. Surely Australian distributers have reconised this problem and can fix the issue by lowering their fixed wholesale prices? otherwise over time they will start running out of places to distribute to.. I buy online at ccs and feel shit about it everytime.

Eamon was extreme motoxxxing and busted his ankle, so he can now only really skate switch. I saw him on a board a few weeks ago and he still has some moves.
The tour you're talking about is probably us visiting Singha in 2004 or something. Good trip.
JJejenhausen13 July 2011
a top level complete in an Aus store now averages 250-280 bucks
Ddrew13 July 2011
Board shouldn't be $140 anymore. I think the max rrp is like $109 these days. I think most shops can hustle a deal if they buy bulk so the prices probably average about $99 for pro boards here these days. Shipping for a board from the states is about $25 yeah? So would I assume that if shops here sold pro boards for $75 - $80 that would be competitive or not?

Also if blame was going to be laid anywhere, I wouldn't put it all on the dists, retailers probably need to share a great deal of the blame.

it also should be noted that i think a lot of the people on here are more knowledgable about the product and can buy online..

a huge portion of customers instore need to go in and see things and try them on and sort out what they want and then just pay the domestic prices

all i can say is ccs, posts within 3 days
BBombzigty.13 July 2011
'all i can say is ccs, posts within 3 days' - as does this site!

If local prices for a pro model were dropped to $75 - $80 I wouldn't think twice about buying within the country, but then you have the rest of the stuff - $40 for a set of Indy's (the first time I bought online I accidently bought 2 sets because I thought the $40 was single truck price!) $25 for a set of Bones wheels the list goes on

DDregs13 July 2011

i don't get why retailers can't match the US prices

they use the same currency as us?

or are they just playing catch up at the moment, because the dollar shot up so quickly?

TTom Marvolo RIddle13 July 2011
I think Jejenhausen is right about us being more knowledgeable in online shopping then most. I work in a clothes retailer and a dick smiths store. At dicksmith I get a lot of idiot customers whose bible is todaytonight and think internet fraud is around every corner

------

import cost / shipping / different margins / higher staff cost / higher rental cost .... many thinks make a difference.

open a shop and see how you go...
