I always fight and vomit when I skate
AA Dunne deal!1 June 2010
bird house the end has heaps of filler, but its fucking awsome.
showing a stack before a land is good it makes you realise how gnarly the trick is and the skater got up and did it and rolled away.

I could watch kenny reed and popalado push around sf and ny for a whole pro part.

if anything its making skate parts more like skating not just a mush up of ham's which might have taken 20 attempts each trick

but i understand what your saying about waking up in bed and shitting on the toilet

as for shots of nice buildings and sunsets, i like that because the days when im skating and its a rad sunset it creats such a good mood amongst everyone and that vibe's into the clip

it can all be over done and there is a fine line
VVagabond1 June 2010
I agree there's a fine line. Artistic fillers done well help to break up sections or set the context. I like seeing bits of landscape where spots are.

Perhaps flicks like Workshop's or Slave's dvds could be used as examples of too many fillers, but I liked 'em. I'm not one to watch dvds over and over again before a sk8 which I guess those flicks wouldn't lend themselves too. In the same token a good short punchy feature is epic too.

...or not a pretentious snob. i like clips that show more than tricks, gives insight to peoples character and company vibe.

I liked what the cons dvd did. They had this awesome filler footage of pappalardo skateboarding

sorry vagabond, slave's fillers dont get old on me at all, there are alot of them but they are pretty brief, whole dvd is my fav for ages
HHearty and Hellish!1 June 2010
I like dvds that are all filler no killer.
To be honest it doesn't even bother me if there isn't even a skateboard in it. As long as I get to see my favourite pros getting wasted and acting cool.
SSPARKES1 June 2010
I don’t really see what the big deal is. You know which companys are gonna be responsible for producing arty stuff and you know which companies are going to come out with hi-jinx stuff. I like the best of both worlds…. It’s all different and I always get down. Hi jinx stuff is rad and so is a large majority of arty stuff. Everyone is different…..

In what way does "jumping on the skateboard" have nothing to do with skateboarding?

I like Shake Junt as well.

originality is key

i think diversity in skateboarding is important too. subcultures within skateboarding come and go, some stand the test of time and some are shit to be flushed asap (ice cream shoes?), but you have to give respect to the people who stay true to themselves because, at the end of the day, they are the ones keeping it fresh and interesting
IIndehh1 June 2010
should'nt be this much emphasis on trends/styles period.

slave radio-television is the best film to come out of 2009.
SSPARKES1 June 2010
Booger, That’s your answer for everything…. But im so keen none the less
MM-J1 June 2010
Without the freedom for the creators of these videos to add whatever they choose inbetween/before and after the skating............. i think people would prehaps loose their minds.

p.s i do appreciate where you are coming from as that wierd mock film through out all of the last nike SB vid .DID my HEAD in....but meeeeeeeeeeh! 90% of what i see on skate vids is skating.

I could sit through shit loads of baker videos and skake junt stupid shit but I don't think I could watch fully flared start to finish.

Chip.

IMO the baker shit is the worst..
i'd much rather see some extra shots of roll ups and pushing than people vomiting and hitting each other..

Agreed. Baker overdoes it too, there is about 45% skating.
Ccuntm8noworries1 June 2010
45? tell him hes dreeeeeeeeeamin

"gives insight to peoples character"

- get fucked, it's skateboarding, not a fucking Federal election.
HHearty and Hellish!1 June 2010
Dot point your favourite skater must be fucken colt cannon then...

Both Baker and Deatwish have cool skaters but they really push the whole drugs/alcohol/partying thing to hard and it gets really annoying.
