Haha what a sucker.
On a completely unrelated note,

My friends old man is in trouble with the cops aha. Cause there was a mass bush fire like 4km from our house a few days ago, and police were blocking off roads, and he was trying to get to his farm. Anyways the copper wouldnt let him pass so he broke his nose and drove around the road block. So sick
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Hahahahaha that's insane! Sooooooo dangerous to go into a fire zone though!

I get to wear my yellows tomorrow :)
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Your yellows are?
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
My firefighting clothes.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Yeah I guessed it but wasn't sure. I'm filling in the form for the fire crew tomorrow cause I felt like a dog not being able to go help my friends at their farms cause of insuranceeeee
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Insurance?

Truth be told, unless you're a fully qualified ba operator there's not much point being at a house fire. You can only fight from the outside and you'll make shit worse if you start breaking random windows to get a hose to the flames.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Haha, nah. I live in a farming community with a population of like 50 people. We need more people to volunteer. It's not really house fires, its more bush fires. We light back fires, dig trenches and move stock and stuff. The fire that started a few days ago went 30kms in half an hour. My friend lost 5000 sheep. So fucked
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Yeah I know what you mean. You probs won't be qualified in time for feb. Its a 6 weeks course.
Then you've gotta do a 2 week structures course before you can go to anything with a structure on the property.

Also, you don't light back fires you do burning off :)
There's a huge difference.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
I don't have to do a course.
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Ummmmmmmmmmm....

Yes you do. Minimum skills. Scrub and wildfire course.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Hahaha, You obviously have no idea. All I need to do tomorrow, is sign a form and they give me my gear. I live in a extremely small community, every body is a volunteer, no one except for a few of the older guys have done courses. If theres a fire, we get called up and we leave and do what ever they ask.

Go to sleep at 8pm they said.....
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Haha I've obviously been a part of the cfa for 8 years and what your town is doing is putting everyones life at risk.
There's a reason the new courses came in and that's to stop what occured on ash wednesday to ever happen again.
That was a dark, dark day in the cfa history. So many firefighters lost because everyone had different procedures, different rules, different everything. Nobody knew what anyone else was doing because nothing was standardised. If your dgo knew!
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
And big whoop if you live in a small community. There's 20 people in my town. Rules don't change.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Holy shit. Not having this conversation. No idea about the fires up here. Not talking to you. Good night.
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Where are you even from?

I assumed you're from victoria because you knew wil, but if you're from a different state then beg my pardon im sorry.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
I'm from NSW.

Don't know Wil.

If we didn't have any of these volunteers, that went out last week. 2 of my best mates would have lost their houses and their lives. So we can't really rely on the select few people who have done the course to put out a bush fire in 130km/h winds.
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Ohhk well its differnt to victoria then.

Everyone here has to do a course before they can join up. All the oldies can still fight fires but they have to do a course by a certain date.
They're pretty easy courses, just teaches you the basics.

And im moving to nsw soon. I tried to inquire about the rfs or whatever you guys have but they say I've gotta get a police check and have an interview and all this other crap. Is rfs not the voulenteer firefighting there?
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Honestly couldn't tell you. I'll suss it tomorrow. I got asked last year and didn't fill in the paper work so I thought I better do it this year. Volunteers don't do anything major, just hose off the truck and move stock and all that. We wouldn't personally be setting fires for burning off unless the older guys are with us and tell us where to light blah blah
RReignSupreme.20 Dec 2009
I'm a lumberjack and i'm ok.
JJamish/20 Dec 2009
Haha fuck talking about that shit anymore.
HHannah.20 Dec 2009
Ohhk. See I light burnoffs and control them now. Operate pumps, use foam and do all that jazz. But if you could sus it for me that'd be sweet :)

Hi lumberjack ;)

Im off to sleep. Burrying my friend today.
RReignSupreme.20 Dec 2009
