Close up shots of flowers, tennis balls, dice, tree bark, grass, random unidentifyable garbage and other pointless objects look really shit. They are boring and totally pointless. Go out and shoot something interesting.

i agree with this entirely. its cool if you do it at home to prcatice but thres no need to post it.

Also star trails are really shit too.

that i disagree. it takes alot of effort to do those.

well heres a portrait from my ringlight so that this post isnt entirly wasted.

hahh to be honest it didnt really cost anything.

the wood was from my old mini. and my next door neighbour is a sparky so he gave me some extra wire and light fittings he had from some jobs. i just had to buy the light globes.

i understand where u are coming from but this thread is also so people can learn from mistakes and get feedback from some really freaking good photographers and improve. flowers etc are just a good learning point to get the basics. it can be boring but if people try some different stuff with it then it can come up a treat especially if its something common like a flower and someone does something out of the ordinary and just makes it their own...

Yeah it is like a dew drop or something, he has the gnarlyiest looking setup too, ill try and find a photo of it.
