whats your drive for doing a man ray remake kicks?


it was for school.. we were doing history of art.. and we had to reproduce an artwork.. everyone else painted or sketched and i thought this was boring.. so i asked a girl in my class to get naked for a photo.. she was keen and we shot it in the dark room.

and I reckon your news shots have your own style to them for sure. How do they turn out in print?? It's def not the usual super high contrast style most newspaper photogs go for but I like it

man you should see our local papers. moey's shots are like a breath of fresh air (which used to be provided by ben vos for a little bit, but i think moey got into this gig through him anyways?).

80% of the photogs for our papers are washed up dudes that got in there when it didn't matter and have just managed to stick around.

- i'm probably being very harsh here, but alot of the photos that make it into our papers are as boring as batshit

Thanks Danny glad you like my pics. I try to avoid printing in the dark room because I'm not exactly flowing with cash. I'm used to seeing them on screen or just looking at the negs themselves.

As for Ben Vos Nate Dawgggg, he is an amazing photog! I still keep in touch with him through email. He works in QLD for a 'lifestyle' mag. Quit working for the paper for something more exciting. Very creative guy
I've had some really nice feedback from the editor and some of the journo's at the paper which is really nice. They know I go to a lot more 'trouble' for a photo. I try my best.
Nate you've probably already noticed but Philip Biggs is a heaps good photographer for the paper. He uses an off cam flash cord and understands that light is super important in photos. He borrowed my flashes/pocket wizards a few times!

That batshit call will never get old haha
