You know the only people who should be wearing nike's?... The dudes who get paid.

Support the core. Buy shit from the dudes who were there when we needed them most, not the brands that realised 20 years on that skateboarding is actually profitable now so they will make some shoes and buy up all the good team riders...

Nike's a fuckin joke, if you see some kid reppin Nike's tell him whats up, only way they can learn.

Thanks Tweak. Can you please give me 3 examples of core companies that were there when we needed them? Also to help my purchasing perhaps let me know which shoes from these core companies are not shithouse. Thanks in advance.

Just neck up and buy some Vans or something haha. (es, circa, etnies, osiris, etc.)
Or just about anything that isn't Nike. Nike = the devil... Oh wait, the Devil aka Satan is cool though... hmm ok for all you Satan lovers Nike is God or something.

Hi Tweak.

Thanks for the list, Just a few questions in regard to the core companies who were there when I needed them.

Es/Circa - please explain how they were there when I needed them, I have been skateboarding a little over 11 years now.

Etnies/Osiris, please explain how they have remained core?

Now if we can get through these little hurdles we can go onto which models they have that skate well but don't fall apart

thanks in advance

thats a shame, because with misguided rhetoric like yours you could become a major religion, and you need a bible...

and my favourite part is presuming that everyone but yourself is an idiot, i think we have worked it out, and nike is rad, this is a democracy, the people have spoken, you lose

How did I say that everyone else is an idiot?
You can do whatever you want I'm not going to stop you neither is anyone else.
If you want to skate Nikes and further line the wallets of a few big bureaucrats go ahead. I'm gonna keep buying Vans in the hope that it helps pay some lads who were down from the start even when they weren't making any cash. Whether I'm really helping or not who knows, at least I tried.

"I lose"... Thats pretty funny, because as far as I can tell we are on an interweb forum... everyone loses fool.

You don't think Vans makes shoes to help skateboarders do you?

It's all a money-hungry game. Saying one company is better than another because "they do it for the skateboarders" is blatant bullshit and just shows how uneducated you are on the matter.

To think that anybody would start a company to not make money would be stupid... Obviously every company is out there to make a dime. To suggest that someone wouldn't understand this concept just shows how un-educated you are at life.

You just gotta choose who's wallets you want to line I guess. Nike had it's chances to help skateboarding time and time again, but they chose not to until they realised they could make mega bucks from it, case closed. Whether Vans is even owned or run by skateboarders anymore who knows, but I'm gonna reward them for being there from the start. Plus they make great shoes.

this...

if nike make money out of skateboarding, then that means people are buying their shoes, why would people buy their shoes? because they like them, so if nike make more money out of skateboarding than vans do, then nike are a better shoe company that does more for skateboarding...

you sound like a communist, oh we have to look out for the little guy, oh boo hoo the core companies, and we hate communists in this country...

adam smith's invisible hand deals favourably towards nike? well good that means they offer the best product

nike - shoes for sports (inc. skating)
vans- shoes for skateboarding

In the late-1990s Nike started to experiment with the market by reissuing many of its older models . It was at this time that Nike made the decision to attempt to exploit a movement which had subsequently rejected it on the basis of integrity.

In 2002, after failing to enter the skateboard market, Nike came out with the SB brand standing for skateboarding.

In 2002, after failing to enter the skateboard market, Nike came out with the SB brand standing for skateboarding. In 2004, Nike SB tried hard to stay in the skateboarding industry so they decided to sign Paul Rodriguez to give more credibility to Nike.

In 1975, the Vans #95, known today as the Era was designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta.

this is so retarded...
SDS makes more money than 00 degress that does not mean they are a better skate shop, just because someone makes the most money does not mean they have the best product, people buy nike because they are a trusted brand not because they have the best skate shoes in the word, if they did then every other skate shoe manufacturer would cease to exist.
at the end of they day its all about consumer choice and brand image

When vans/etnies/orisis/es/any other company make a shoe that is as durable and skates as well as nike/adidas I will buy them, until then I'll spend my money on a way that benefits me most. If you or anyone else think it makes me less of a skateboarder then you can go fuck yourself you self righteous cunt, you are exactly the kind of elitist dickheads that ruin the fun of skateboarding with your absurd dogma.

In short, shut the fuck up and just skate.
