NEW SYDNEY PARK, CHIFLEY

Sydney is in the final stages of getting a brand new park with a budget of around $700k (similar to Waterloo). The problem is, the skaters of Sydney have not been involved in the design process! An ad was placed in the Wentworth Courier, but not on anything skaters would actually read. As a result, we have an outdated design, and the street section looks shocking. Among other things there duplicate 2x 90's down rails, A frames and hubbas that very few people could hit anyway. The bowl looks good, but surrounding parks of Bondi, Maroubra and Rockdale all have bowls as a focus.

The Sydney Skateboard Association are in initial stages of trying to get a redesign happening, as construction does not seem far off. If council listens to them, there would be a much better chance of Sydney skaters having a say in the design via Facebook, Insta and meetings and we could end up with a really good park fairly close to the city.

the giant mini ramp with corners looks fun

street section looks awful, don't understand why they can't incorporate some interesting transition into the street section with a good mix of obstacles to satisfy both camps of skaters

LeoT, you've basically covered everything, the whole design is horrible - start again, and make sure whoever designed this doesn't get a cent.

fuck this is a piece of shit.. this will make Sydney go backwards.. whoever designed this needs a good turkey slap to the face..

Just had my say on that Council website, hopefully we can break through to someone and get the design revised.

Hey Shutdown, I just had a look at the plans and can see that a company called Redbox Design are responsible. http://www.redboxdesigngroup.com.au

I had a quick look at their website and couldn't see any pictures or links to other parks they have designed.

was anyone aware botany council is planning on building a park at much park as well??? i heard from a friend today and this was all i could find on it:

'The council has also resolved to build a skate park and cricket nets at Mutch Park in Pagewood.'

Dangerman and Bart Carnes are behind the Chifley design as far as I know.

I also noticed on the "have your say" page it says that the discussion is concluded. Does that mean no ones comments have been taken on board and the design is going ahead as is??? That's terrible if so.

Great input from Azar, Trent and everyone on the comments page, I hope there is still some hope... if not, getting onto the Mutch park design in the early stages before another Sydney park turns to shit
