Somehow I manage to get in some shitty ass battles, thats for sure. Those two main ones, the feeble grind and the frontside halfcab, I wouldnt have gotten through them without help from the homies. In Europe Jason Dill realized I was freaking out and he came and sat in a tree at the run up and talked to me for an hour and half, telling me, This is what youre here for. Dont even trip. Youre just skating, having fun. This is what you do. Youre in Holland skateboarding. What would you rather be doing? Simple talk that meant a lot to me. For me to get it done I have to be out there in the streets every single fucking day, whether I want to or not and force myself into that. You can picture everything you can go through in skating every day for four years: the burnouts, the injuries, the battles. But the formula is all the same to me: any video that Ive been able to come through for has been because I showed up every single day. But everybody is different. We mourn the loss of a very special friend. Filming for this first Vans video was one of the highlights of my career. It pushed me to do things I havent done in a very long time. For the last trick of the last day Greg was like, You need to do a Christ Air! I was like, Come on! I havent done one in years! I think I maybe did two since I got out of prison ten years ago. But it started getting dark and the sun was setting crazy orange and pink and red and Grosso says, God painted the sky for you. Looks like youre going to have to make that Christ air. No pressure!
