Thanks Bibby for the shots
One more. From reading the website it is the home of the Australian Street League which I assume is starting soon.
Looks cool but I don't know why a park like this got built out of concrete? Especially all the free-standing stuff in the middle...
Better for wear-and-tear I guess but I can't imagine the build would be cheaper than replacing a some sheets of ply every 6 months.
Maybe I just can't let go of the 90's
They have done a much better job on it than the early photos indicated. I wish they took onboard some design advice the park builders were offering for free. I can't see them footings on the tranny holding up very well.
It is good Melbourne has another indoor for the winter. I can't see them being properly sanctioned to use street league branding. That could potentially get them in some hot water. I could be wrong.
Anyway good luck with it. Tough gig
is it me or is the design terrible!, all the rails look so shit.
the euro into the wall looks amazing
"is it me or is the design terrible"
no the design sucks.. and the build quality sucks.. someone just wasted a heap of $$$$$
This reminds me of the Chocolate Tour video from around 2000. Remember the skit where they rocked up to a parking lot demo and Spike Jonze is the shop guy wearing a long haired wig? The part where they showed all the obstacles in the car park and played funny sound effects for every obstacle like; "boing", "zing", "wah wah waaaaaow"?
Anyway, those sound effects are what went through my head when I scrolled through the pics.
Hopefully it's not as bad as it looks in the photos and like Josh said, it's a tough gig. I would rather clean glory holes than own an indoor park so good luck to em.
mad rock gap.
but some fun stuff there you can't deny it
Finally. A mellow fun hip. I'm so over oversized and steep hips. Point lonsdale hip fo lyf (and potentially this one)
Looks terrible. Looks like they just copied the shittest elements of skateparks from the late 90's but positioned them poorly. what a waste. Bumming for whoever owns this thing. I'm betting it will be closed by the end of the year.
Fuckin' chat. It's like a 12 year old who watched street league a few times then went to his local prefab and copied his fav sections
where/what is this place?
It's in Reservoir:
http://melbourneskateplaza.com.auSo many things wrong with this place. I hate the fact that they've taken "street" and "plaza" to equal rails and drops and no flow whatsoever.
Given that space and the money they've probably spent, it would be hard pressed to do a worse job of selecting obstacles / design.
Whoever came up with the rock gap was definitely smoking it.
what's the point this looks shit
shoulda just put a roof over rezi
