OP
Anyone else posted or been watching the Vans history vids on the Berrics?

I think I saw something somewhere about it but only just came across it again now.

Well worth the watch, especially seeing as I am such a sucker for Vans!!!

I thought it was a bit suss how they hated on so many years of their company, when if they were releasing only their classics during that time, they would have sold zero shoes.

I guess they can say that now, definitely because what was a classic shoe once is now one of the most popular shoes again, and when I say shoe I mean the whole style of shoes - old skool, era, sk8 hi, half cabs, and everything that looks like one of those, etc.

Looking back at some vids, there were still a lot of dudes wearing old skools and half cabs among others all through the tech years, from some videos and other pics of that era, but it was also a time of a lot more shoe companies (and any other item branded companies for that matter) coming into the market, so styles were changing a lot due to others bringing something else to the table, eg sport / jogger looking shoes.

From the 80s with Vans Native and other similar shoes, 90s with Half Cabs and some others through to 2000's I had some techy type shoes for a while, only cause they were cheap and I could get a lot of them, but the invention of the super soft padded inner sole definitely brought back the love for me of the thinner shoes again, with some like the old Fairlane to Old Skool to Half Cab becoming so much easier to wear all the time.
