a few skaters and contest organizers going over the 99' x games best trick contest
http://www.jenkemmag.com/home/2015/06/22/did-tony-hawk-steal-the-900/
That and the transworld article were both really sick reads, just from the history of tricks whatever side of the fence you're on.
who cares, getting so out of hand.
Hawk didn't steal the 900 from Tas, he stole it from Jedi. Hawk teamed up with Slater and Hosoi to make sure Jedi was not in the USA at the time of the best trick competition. Jedi had posted on many occasions that he intended to land the 900 with lightsaber at that event. Hawk got wind of this and was seen practicing with saber but just couldn't get it together so eventually was forced to land the 9 without it in turn stealing the spoils fame and glory that awaited the mighty Jedi.
This quote sums up the whole stupid thing,
"The reality is that a 900, or any other trick – you don’t steal them, you land them."
The BOB
he'll probably see it as a biased article but the true fact is everyone thinks he's wrong hahaha
Shutdown has re-established himself as my favourite poster.
Isn't Tas' whole stance that he's calling out Hawk and the faceless men at X-Games for not letting him in the comp, not "stealing" the 900?
Anyway skateboarding needs more beef these days so I'm totally fine with this whole thing and I'm on team Tas. Hawk cemented himself as a dick nozzle a few weeks ago when he did a board-less flip out of a vert ramp landing in some lame middle aged hip hop type pose, he then amazingly still had enough kook in himself to throw up a Shooter McGavin point at the camera while he blurted out "I'm Tony Hawk, welcome to X-Games". It made me embarrassed to say I used to skate.
Link? ^
please ^^
I think Tas's stance seems to be more about taking zero responsibility for his own life.
Hawk rules, he's old as fuck and still puts out gnarly footage like that perched part from last year.
I think Tas is an incredible skater btw, I just dont buy any of the shit mayhem was selling.
bring back the beef
Don't let the truth get in the way of a good yarn doom patrol.... and Hawk rips btw, my post was a bit harsh, he's a proper legend....just come across as a massive dork.
I read his Transworld interview and thought it was interesting that he had a go at VICE for dodgy one sided journalism but also said they contacted him to be a part of the doco.... I don't think it's fair to call out VICE for not telling your side of the story when you refused to tell it when given the opportunity.
i didnt hear Tas say Hawk stole the 900? once, only that he was not allowed to skate the best trick and may of tryed the 9 there, the whole story is getting twisted
but Hawk claiming on the transworld thing that Tas wasnt even close to landing it? he pretty much was spinning it and landing on it on the doco.
Can we get a Tas Pappas sk8parx interview to follow up all this debate?
100% doom patrol, thats what I got from it when I watched it. Just palming off all his mistakes on others and wrong place wrong time
should get a vert forum going fellas. would be sick
Wasn't there some footy in one of the H-Street vid's of Danny doing the 9 and bailing on the tranny?
Side note: I also would bail on a tranny trying to do my 9.
skip to 3:30
moral of the story, dont shit where u eat
And don't do drugs
Turn off. The slap butterfly effect
I have no idea how any vert skater this day and age is able to get this amount of attention.
One thing I've noticed lately is the genius video editors have totally figured out how may very tricks we can handle before we hit the fast forward button....
three.
I love a roll on a vert ramp but watching it trick after trick is boring as batshit.
