They did actually, haha. It was pretty full on/funny. The spot is on a main road and I was driving down it when I saw a mattress in that open lot, at this stage MA. KU. was only an idea and I hadnt started it yet. The next day I was like you know what im gonna go give it a crack and see if I can get the ball rolling. So drove back and one of my mates who is a photographer that I used to skate with lived right around the corner so called him up - told him what I was doing (which was wearaing a balaclava and skateboarding a mattress haha) and he laughed and said he would be happy to come take some photos.
Anyway so needed to find something to hold my phone in place that was elevated from the ground, went through my car and there was a Fuel tin from the day before which I had with me because I was mowing my grandmothers lawns, the phone sat perfectly in the handle section so I was like sweet!
So rolled the bally over my face and got to work, was moving the camera around a bit for different tricks I was trying. Then on one trick I land and turn around and see the Police car there lights flashing with two police officers with a very serious look on thier face haha. So first thing I did was lifted the bally up - and showed them my skateboard just to try and defuse the situation as soon as possible. Thank god the photographer was with me - as he looks super goofy with realy long hair and kinda funny clothes so that helped for sure compared to if it was just me haha.
They instantly asked what the hell are you doing, why are you wearing a balaclava and why do you have a petrol tin? I explained to them how the petrol tin was simply just acting as a tripod for my iphone which I was using to film myself skating - they obviously didnt understand it so had to play the whole "oh you know its art" bullshit. They then were like mate - what were you thinking? We got calls from people driving by saying they saw a person in a balaclava carrying a petrol tin towards the petrol station here! And sure enough across the road from where I was skating there was a petrol station which I didnt even consider to be an issue haha. Then around then one after another at least 4 more Police cars came tearing in lights flashing and all jumping out of the car - at this stage im like oh man... they are gonna be so pissed.
As they all jump out and talk to the first officers on scene and find out its just a skateboarder and not a terroirst attack they are all so dirty with me haha. One of the Police officers was the main counstable from the Local police station - and he made it his point to try and get me for anything. They searched the entire building, then put my against the wall and searched me - made me pull down my pants and everything which was hillarious. Not satisfied with that - they searched my entire car looking for "drugs or weapons" and of course I had none.
So eventully they had to let me go with only a move on warning. I once I got my phone back from them as they were going through it watching the video I had recoreded and what not, I was sure they would have deleted the footage of them pulling in and was like damn! But to my surprise it was still there! And I was like holly shit... I just got my ender on the first day filming! So I knew I had to keep going and finish off the video - it's not everyday you get your get an ender straight up!
