so keen for this. I might have to finally try to learn slappies at this park
looks awesome! curb cut gaps look so fun
Has the potential to be rad but these drawings aren't the best.........looks a bit crowded but I hope that's not the case.
Speaking of slappies, nothing against them but can we please have a nice variety of decent height stuff too??
curbs you can wax up/slappy are relatively easy to find in the streets. nice ledges/benches are not these days.
Hello boys,
There were actually way more detailed plans on display at the most recent design consultation held about two weeks ago. I asked the council to supply the plans in question but (for whatever reason) they weren't able to do so (which is a shame).
Please keep in mind that this is only the FIRST DRAFT. Amendments/changes/additions can still be made. Everyone's input is (whether it's made online or if you submitted a hard copy print out on the day) reviewed, taken on board (or into consideration) and (hopefully) addressed. There's been a bit of confusion recently regarding the lack of transition featured in the park......these designs only reflect the input which has been given to CONVIC and the council. Now is the time to voice your ideas/opinions. But - Do it via the council website so it actually gets through to the right people.
All myself and the guys from the SSA want to see is what the locals and the majority of those willing to take the time to get involved have suggested be built.
We just want more skateparks in Sydney. Transition, Bowls, Plazas, full pipes...... fucken anything as long as it is skateable and is what people are wanting to see built.
Just so everyone is aware - there are a handful of different projects currently in the works around Sydney which all feature a variety of transition (snake runs, deep bowls and everything in between) and also (i think) another park which will be predominately "plaza style" is also in the works. We haven't been in contact with that council yet but that's what's currently circulating in the rumour mill. I'll let everyone know more details when i can or have them.
Last but not least - Just be considerate of the fact that everyone prefers different terrain. There is no "right or wrong". There are so many variables which go into these projects (space/budget/location/local resident intervention to name a few) which can sometimes shape a parks design before its even started. You can't please everyone but at least there are finally more parks on the horizon! There will definitely be something for everyone at some stage in due time. If anyone is interested in helping us out or getting involved please contact us through our facebook page. Cheers boyschhhh!
You're a legend Sparkes. Unfortunately I've been unable to attend these consultations but regarding the "right or wrong" comment, I generally agree with you but generally unless you're talking a million plus budget, trying to "please everyone" generally leads to an overall mediocre to shit design. Just look at Brunswick as an example. best off making it all classic street or all transition etc.
You probably already know that........just my 2 cents from years of observing how these things pan out around Aus. Hope you guys can emphasise that to any council.
Thanks.
stoked on this design, there definitely aren't enough skate plazas in sydney.
the best thing i heard suggested was 2x flat ledges along the bottom path for doing lines

i generally agree with sk8thendie generally, but generally, some may say it's generally general
Cheers mate! You can submit feedback online if you were unable to attend the consultations

I think it remains open for submissions until the end of the month.
Yep.....it's always a tough one. To be honest we don't ever have direct input into the design of facilities.....that's not up to us at all. What we do is ensure the locals and people who will be using the park most get their voices heard and have their ideas/input translated into the final design.
There should be a bit of everything popping up in the next few years. Making it happen quickly is the hard part
Yep, thanks Sparkes. I did submit some feedback on the council website.
Cuntm8, yeah I wrote that first thing in the morning just after getting out of bed. Generally you think you're pretty funny but generally you're not.
yeah stringing sentences together at 6:30 is a real doozy bro!
