Sydenham Green Skate Space: Design Ideas Workshop

Marrickville Council and Convic are designing a new Skate Space for Sydenham Green. The community consultation and ideas workshop is on Thursday evening, the 18th of February. Have your say and bring your ideas down to the Tom Foster Community Centre 11-13 Darley Street, Newtown. 6.30pm onwards.

To anyone else attending, try and think of spots or things you'd like to see/skate before you turn up, maybe even bring reference images or something. I know it can be hard to come up with ideas when you put on the spot during the meetings so thinking ahead can help get what you want.

It gets said a thousand times, but there's no point complaining about a shit spot getting built if you don't turn up and put your ideas forward! As I've had explained to me, no matter how good Convic are at their jobs, they need to build what the community asks for - if a bunch of scooters turn up and ask for a roll-on flat bar and 1ft quarterpipe they are kind of obliged to build along those lines even if it's rubbish.

Let's give them the best opportunity we can to come up with something awesome.
