Party in the Back RVCA Corner Gallery, Collingwood and the Heavy Time Institute presents ‘Party in The Back’, a photographic exhibition from celebrated skateboarder Tino Razo opening on April 21st.

A lyrical photo eulogy for this disappearing pool culture, Razo has documented - and shredded abandoned backyard swimming pools throughout Southern California. The resulting body of work, being showcased in Australia for the first time, elevates itself beyond a bunch of thrill - seekers navigating the suburban landscape, juxtaposing renegade sessions by world class photographs of a lost American dream.

More than just a photo project for Razo, it has been a way for him to redefine his life through the lens of skating - a way for him to grow up within the Californian dream. Skating for over 30 years, Razo has captured these pools by word of mouth and has also used satellite technology to track down undiscovered territory. Every single photograph of a pool he has documented has a story - including stumbling on a house that was once owned by an original member of the Black Panthers and a gun being pulled on his friend.

He has also released a book with Anthology Editions with all images which will be available to purchase alongside limited prints across the duration of the exhibition.
