I went and had a look today. All finished and open to the public, with the opening event on tomorrow.

To be honest, initially I thought "Where is the rest of it???" as per pics above, that is all there is, but it is only a small development and it is well made - the main quarter slightly hipped to each side of the face with the vert wall (which is metal, the red bits actually a hole punched surface but should be still ok to ride).

From the main quarter, it goes out for a bit and splits with the two sides banked up and various obstacles, the first side having a rail in the middle and a euro gap to one side which ends in a small quarter. The right arm has ledges on both sides then goes off to a couple of other things - flat ledge and flat bar with slappy up one end- before ending with nothing - a bank or quarter would have been ideal after the flat bar.

The young kids there were having a whinge that there was nothing for them to ride - couldn't ollie or drop in - but as I said, it is well built and the good sized rail and ledges should be pretty good for anyone who is more into street type obstacles and has reasonable ability, or the couple of quarters and the vert wall for the other tranny riders.

In the surrounding areas, there are also a good many things which would also be fun to skate, but you can go there and work those out for yourself.

Cool signs too.

"Epic fails can happen..."

Is it just me or does this remind you of Capalaba?

So many other things built, concrete ledges, stairs, etc which could have made it a much better / bigger skate park with less other surrounding things and more skate obstacles, or make things that can be skated, rather than skate stopper every other surrounding ledge (which would be perfect to skate) and how about those stair sets???

Yes I am a grumpy old man, and again thank you to Convic and crew as you guys did a good job and the skate park is solid, but please try to tell the Councils and powers that be to stop trying to combine "youth space" or general multi use parks with skateboard facilities, as the skateboard facilities almost always suffer as a result.

I know the people who plan these things must make it nice for everyone, but then they wonder why skateboarders end up waxing up the other ledge blocks around the park, or skating the stairs more than the park, or keep going back into the local school to skate, etc.

Sorry, end rant.
