I thought it was just me being a whinging old cunt, but it is crap isnt it?
Most of the good elements are already at the kilmore park 10 minutes away.
How would you even go about getting it fixed?
Dingo there are some great skaters that design parks. There are also people that don't skate, used to skate or occasionally skate at a beginner or half arsed level that design parks.
I am making assumptions, but I cannot see how a skater could have come up with this design. I could be wrong.
It is easy to make changes to a very flawed design to make them good parks. Fawkner and Croydon are good examples of this. The initial plans for both these parks were, well, rubbish. Input and recommendations from the locals enabled the plans to be modified, and great outcomes eventuated.
With the consultations for Reserviour park, all that was required was to put in some jersey corners that were not in the original plans, move some of the obstacles and that was it. Small changes making a massive difference. Remember this is a $50k budget.
However when you look at these plans you just get this deflating feeling. How can you make changes to improve this? If it was a good design that you could tweak it would be different. It is just a straight up crap looking park. It would cost a packet too.
I'm pretty sure the plans are not changing.
They start building within a few months.
Yeah your right hal unfortunately thats it. Had a couple of attempts this week to maybe change a few things , but its to late. Not even open to minor tweaks like fixing the gap to nothing or moving that vert wall.
The 50 odd 12-17 year olds involved are all stoked on it.
In fact I was the only negative feedback the project had received.
Here is a photo of whats happening with the park. They put a few other pics up on facebook but its hard to see whats happening in them.
No real run up for the kicker thingy and hubba thingy and the vert wall looks fucked.
You can see in the top left corner the old steel mini hasnt been taken down yet and as insomniajosh pointed out the seat things are pretty pointless.
I don't think this park will be all that bad though.
Thanks drew I had to message the facebook page like 3 or 4 times because they weren't keeping it up to date.
Was drinking with some of the workers last week. The miniramp is being resurfaced and the coping replaced or so they told me and the think it should be done by the end of the month if not mid july.
What a fucking joke. You have those cool obstacles in the second photo with those stupid concrete seats ruining their landing. A 3m run up for a kicker? Well done!
I'll skate any thing and have fun. It's just so disappointing to have so much money thrown at something with such obvious flaws.
Re looking at the plans there looks like more of a run up to the kicker. Still think it's shit
