"People are being paid to travel the world and film/edit shit this badly" My exact thoughts man, It's ridiculous hey. I did enjoy the Koston and Sheckler footage though. Can't wait to see a new sheckler part, I can imagine it will be next level.

Because you guys are Oakley's target audience? I wasn't a fan, but hey, to everyone outside of skateboarding, most tricks look the same, hence artsy filming I suppose. At least appreciate that respectable skateboarders are paid by a sunglasses company to travel and skate.

Calling it 'absolute garbage' shows that your watching it out of context and not watching it for what it really is, an add to promote Oakley. This is why your expectations are skewed and you cant seem to appreciate a great clip.

Well said Lindsay. I do agree ZDL, It is an ad to promote Oakley. However, this forum is aimed at skateboarders, of course the majority of us are going to look at it from a skateboarder's perspective.

Although it's a fine and often treacherous line to tread between arty & retaining 'skate' credibility, it is also completely achievable, this clip wasn't an example of that. Obviously the skaters would have been glancing at the footage here and there, would it have been too much to suggest that the angles were actually quiet good and creative & just to zoom out enough to appreciate all or at least a bit more of the trick, no problem using zoomed in shots for cutaways.

I suppose it's obviously open to every ones interpretation I just feel like even the skaters may have been bummed on that final product considering the money spent.

Just. Zoom. Out.

theres a huge difference between "artsy" and corny edits. this is corny as hell. Of course skateboarders are gonna watch it if Koston is in it. Oakley cant be that dumb. If they wanna make a video to appeal to a diff target audience do some zoom in on their 'eyewear' not skateboarding.

Someone said (can't be bothered finding it again) that it's a promotional tool and not necessarily directed at skaters (or somehting to that effect), doesn't mean the filming has to take away from the skateboarding! "Artsy" or not, The BEST filmers and innovators behind the lense in the world of filming are skateboarders... Hands down! No one has the unique eye and indiviual way of looking at things the way skate filmers do... If they hired someone who is a noted Skateboard Filmer and simply asked them to mnake it more "commercial" and "Artsy" the result would've been much better and the only thing people would be taking about on this thread is how rad the skating was and good on Oakley for supporting skateboarding...
I think they just need a better direction from a skateboarding point of view.

Whoever said skateboarders aren't a part of the target audience of this clip must be blind...that was a skate clip from a skate tour with photos and an article focused entirely on skateboarding. If this isn't targeted at skateboarders then I am totally stumped.
