yeh, but then we have to spend our own money. Although i got this e-mail back from the big peeps in the gov. departments and it goes...

Hi David

Thank you for emailing your ideas about skate facilities to City Management. It has come to Canberra Urban Parks and Places as the managers of parks and some recreational facilities. We are familiar with the great http://www.skateboard.com.au/ site, and have used it ourselves to tell people about skatepark projects.

Canberra Urban Parks and Places' Community Partnerships Program provides up to $30,000 in funding for projects to community members. The construction of skate parks is costly, and past experience indicates a grant of this size would not achieve the construction of a skate facility.

Larger grants programs may be worth exploring. Chief Minister's Department Community Inclusion Fund (up to $100,000 - next funding round July 2005). Sport and Recreation ACT provide funding for new sporting facilities. Details on their funding rounds timeline and financial limits are available at http://www.sport.act.gov.au/development/grants/fundgrnt.html.

Be sure to speak early on with the land managers of any site you have ideas about...they will be able to give advice on the ways they control building on the land under their control. Please feel free to contact CUPP if you have questions about who manages the various areas of public land in and around Hughes.

I hope this information helps in your discussions. Thanks again for your enquiry.

Regards
David Moyle

Lyons is like 2 minutes away from weston. Where in woden would be closer than that?

Where do would you ideally have one (and no, the council will not build a cradle out the front of your house)?

Lucky Phil 12:31 18/Oct/04

you are talking to the right people Dave.

Leave your number in at Shiftys and Potty or I will get back to you and let you know where we are at the moment, a little bit further down the line than where you are right now, but we are obviously thinking along the same lines.

hey thanks for your replys, i talked to Spud at Shiftys an he told me where it was planned to be built, Eddison Park near the pond. And yes it would be awsome for the council to build one out the front of all our houses but as you said F.P. it just won't happen. but i think if we all go for a big grant for the park then maybe it will go ahead.

eddison park, eh? maaaaaaaaaaaad. truly we are spoilt now.

do you think there may arise the problem of too many parks for such a small city (outrageous, I know)...if they don't get used a lot it does give an excuse to people against the parks/thefunding for parks to say "no more" or "tear this down i want to build a second cockington green, but this one with a 'batman' theme"...actually a batman themed cocking green would be pretty cool too

Dave_G 11:27 21/Oct/04

there is that problem but if we smile at them maybe they'll not down a shit one and build a new one.

Dave_G 19:26 21/Oct/04

sorry bout that last post, i was in class on the computer and didn't really have time to check what i was writing, but wat i meant to say was knock down a shit one an build a bigger better one

Dave_G 19:15 24/Oct/04

eh?

Dave_G 14:51 31/Oct/04

I have sent an email to the large grants ppl and haven't got a reply, but i am awaiting one...hopefully soon!

Damn, you bought a house in huges Remy!! Did you have to sell the merc?

This is progressing very slowly, No-one wants to hear public money in Woden right now cause of the millions in development going on. will keep posted

if a skatepark was built where it's currently proposed, i could bus it to the skatepark straight from school and then take another bus home- it would be very handy.

I go to alfred deakin too David.

Kept the ride Phil!

Steve - where is your mansion?

I heavily doubt that an NBL player could afford to pay rent, let alone buying a mansion, still, one of the funniest alter ego's out there!
