> SKATEPARK 4 CANBERRA!!
So the more Skateboarders that show up to the Consultation the more chance we have of getting A skate park, & not just a huge basketball court wright?
I just hope that more then 3 skateboarders attend this time.
fuck that theyd better uprade belco before they fucking do any shit down south.
Wouldn't you prefer a new park with NEW things as opposed to upgrades.? I know I certainly would.
Just a reminder that this is tomorrow afternoon peeps.
i was there but only for 10 mins, so i didnt really contribute and ont really know much. but it was a fair turn out, there was twice as many skaters than bikers. but where were you luke??
Convic have been engaged to do the draft design process by Feb.
I understand that this weekend the tender (for construction of the youth facility) will open and be advised in the paper and I guess on www.tams.act.gov.au
Jed, I met earlier in the day with some other Gov / Youth / Council people as the Sk8 Association person and couldn't make the arvo meeting due to work commitments.
Great that lots of skaters showed up. I think what people need to realise is that this is creation of a youth facility, not just a skatepark. In the meeting I attended there wasn't really much specific discussion around types of skateable obstacles, moreso just overall concepts including ideas around interactive / display / audience / stage type ideas for events.
Eddison Park is a memorial park where the Woden Community Festival is also held. These attributes are also part of the process.
As I understand what happens now is:
- Those who attended the meeting and left their emails will get circulated the details and can comment / have input
- Convic design team are coming up with a concept plan that will then be given out for comment
- Seperately, through the tender process, a design/construct team will be engaged and then that will progress
I will continue to do my very best to keep people informed and as always people are welcome to email me: luke@skateboard.com.au and if I don't know what is happening I will try to find out
Thanks
Hey,
Tender application/details are at this site:
http://www.procurement.act.gov.au/tenders_advertised/open_tenders
There were two proposed sites, but this looks as though it is the preferred location being close to carpark and amenities and more easily accessible.
Turnout for the meeting was awesome. Stoked on the amount of skaters that were there. I was worried we would be outnumbered for a while.
Onya for going. Sounds like they listened and took a lot of notes. Lets see what the concept plans bring eh.
On-site Consultation @ Eddison Park in Woden Saturday 9.30am - 11.30am
