Anyone read papillion/banco?? Midway through shantaram for the second time, shits so good, get onto it!
Books N shit
i've read alot of stephen king novels this year and haven't come across a bad one yet. just started "the devil rides out" by dennis wheatley, so far it's pretty awesome. it's about satanism and black masses and the like, he was an expert on the occult so it's pretty legit.
Has anyone ever read some of Soren Kierkegaard's stuff? i bought Fear and Trembling off bookdepository.co.uk the other day, they have really cheap books and free postage to Aus... can't wait for it to arrive. I also bought Less than Zero by Bret Ellis
Less than Zero is enjoyable.
Good luck with Fear and Trembling. It won't be an easy read from what I've heard.

Anyone read Infinite Jest? Crazy awesomely hard to get into.
I have like a list of book's from 2 years ago I have been waiting for and I completely stopped reading for awhile, only remembered them the other day. Yet to purchase. Will be a fun week or two once I do

ive been on a book depository rampage. unemployment allows to read a lot but paradoxically you cant afford any.
I've been doing a lot of driving for work so have started listening to audio books. Steve Martin's autobiography "Born Standing Up" was great.
I'm currently listening to 112263 by Stephen King. It makes me want to stay in my car.

Bookdepository is the shit! Fuck the local retailer
I have been reading "The holographic universe". One of the best books I have ever read. So thought provoking!
Robert Anton Wilsons "Cosmic Trigger, The final secrets of the Illuminati" is also awesome.
Has anyone read any Stanislav Grof?

I'll Third ... the Bookdedepository.
I mostly get A. A Bailey, Manly P Hall, Theososophy, Dr D.M Baker, G De Puruker

I like http://www.fishpond.com.au and it appears to be cheaper than the Bookdedepository and still has fee postage.
I was about to ask if Book Depository is cheaper than Amazon, but if fishpond is cheaper than Book Depository, then BD must be hell expensive compared to Amazon, cause fishpond is more expensive than Amazon, even with free postage.
I'll probably revisit fishpond again when the Aussie dollar drops.

I buy through Amazon.
When you click on a book, you get choices of which shop to buy through.
I have found recently the BD has been a decent price, so I clicked on them.
May other shops listed only ship domestic, you need to choose one who ships Int.
I have not gone direct to the BD's web site, only through Amazon

I am yet to see the movie and was therefore astonished at the fact that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote "the curious case of Benjamin Button". In a collection of works titled "The curious case of Benjamin Button and six other stories". The story itself was only 29 pages long. From what i've discussed with people who have seen the movie, it is a drastically different story. I just felt it was strange that an author, who's works (i have read) have been of a completely different theme. Should read it cunts. "The great gatsby" lived up to it names sake and was great, while "The beautiful and the damned" was a little more long winded. All good reads though.
I've had bad experiences with Amazon so i don't buy from there anymore, bookdepository all the way
I don't care for the Great Gatsby. Well written but nothing to really hold your attention.

I'm reading Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian". Same author as No Country for Old Men. It's set in 1860's America, plenty of scalping and pillaging but fuck me if it isn't one of the hardest books ever to get into.
It's a bit strange for me though because I can't like or barrack for any character, it's all about the evil in human nature and none of the characters are likeable, they're all baby-killers, but you can't put it down because McCarthy writes so well.

I like Cormac McCarthy, The Road was quite good. I ordered the God Delusion from amazon ages ago and the estimated delivery time passed last week so i emailed them a few days ago saying i didnt get it, they said they'll send another. The book showed up today hahah so it looks like im getting another for free...
Still got my copy of Hell's Angels, Russ?
