atheoxx14 Aug 2011etnies have a more recognizable logo that kids and the general public will see and buy theyre shoes just for that. i wouldnt be surprised if i heard something like etnies shoe sales are double wat eS was but i doubt thats the case anyway.. As far as skateboarders go u rarely see people wearing them. But etnies market goes into bmx and surfing aswell i believe and in general are desirable for the token anybody who wears 'skate shoes' arount the house or watever.
But imagine being sole tech and trying to compete with DC and Nike these days... i will say that atleast nike make really good shoes to skate in.

Who the hell actually buys DC shoes these days anyhow? Every time I see that brand / logo all i can think of are the piles of DC seconds at the asian markets that you need to dig through to find the odd pair of emerica's.

i wear moccos16 Aug 2011In all honesty, when was the last time someone was hyped about an eS shoe? Everyone in this thread is excited about the Menikmati glory days, but no one seems to be too upset about not being able to buy any of the current models in the near future.
Maybe eS shot themselves in the foot by being low key, not having a 'superstar' on the team and not marketing the company as well as they should have.
It is always sad to see a skateboard company go under, but with so many companies releasing the same shoes with a different logo on them, one or two is bound to fall off.
And people have automatically blamed Cons, Adidas and Nike SB for 'killing' a skateboard owned company, if skateboard shoe companies could produce the quality of shoe seen by these big three, no one would be interested in their offerings.

It's a real shame. I get the prebook catalogues every quarter. Everything they do is still so tight. I could easily order half the book but alas nobody has been buying for a while. Sad sad

atheoxx16 Aug 2011shutdown and i wear moccos are on there game here. i havent been excited or looked at an eS shoe since the accel and thought fuck thats a decent shoe, cant wait to skate in that. Wheras i look at nike shoes that come out and now and think damn thats a nice looking shoe to skate in. I dont care about the brand nike only that the shoe will be solid for skating. Im currently rocking accels and will be for awhile because im used to them and have been for years now, and there still on shelves and still 100-120 bucks sumtimes less.
The market for skaters buying shoes isnt small, but its also not that big i dont think in australia. Thats why companies like eS are being put on hold. And brands like Etnies, DC, Nike are huge because they appeal to not only skateboarding, but surfers, bmx kids and more importantly for sales the general public. It was the same with Globe. Theyre just isnt enough room to compete and do well these days.
I could be wrong, im just voicing an observation and my opinion from well outside the industry. But anyone with better info feel free to correct me here. haha

atheoxx16 Aug 2011i been skating for going on 9 years i think. and my feet are too sore to wear paper thin nikes like the new kostons etc. the accels are a good medium. and im so used to them.
other than the eS Koston 3 i cant think of any other shoe they released that i got excited about. maybe the first arto's but they werent anything special other than being a hero's pro model
theyre shoes were still really good, but just nothing amazing looks wise, and didnt have anything that the general public would look at and think damn i wanna wear them.
