"nike and addidas have the best quality and thats an end of it
they are in no way to blame for e'S failures"

I actually think they're directly to "blame". The type of skater that 10 years ago rocked e'S are the type of crew wearing Nike and Adidas today. They took that market share... not saying that as a negative to Nike or Adidas, thats business.

That along with vulc shoes which went against the image e'S had developed and they had a very awkward time adjusting to.

im glad you put blame in quotations, because its not their fault they they made a more appealing shoe, its not their fault the consumer went for the sb instead...

every company should try and put out the best shoes they can, and make them desirable, e'S obviously didnt do that and they have themselves to blame

kinda sad to think that as a community e's died because we all got sold on the idea of shitcunt volley clones with no padding as the best shoes on earth..

The same way we were sold on the idea that fat pillow shoes that fell off all the time were the best shoes on earth?!

end of an era eh... although it seems the era may have been over a while ago

always a shame when any long standing skate company dies, however (and I'm probably going to get slammed for this) I don't think it's all that bad...

with all those riders going to Nike or wherever I'm sure they're getting paid a lot better. Nike seem to put a lot of money into tours & promos etc. as well. So the pros are happy, skateboard fans are happy.

As far as not being a 'core' skate company, the basketball players and athletes would have more to complain about... I'm sure their sales are contributing more to the skate side than the skate side is contributing to the other divisions.

The only thing is that the company owners of éS who probably have deeper roots in skateboarding will have to find new jobs. That sucks, but then again they can't blame other companies for their own demise, it's their job to make sure they keep up with trends and a changing market.

I will miss riding éS shoes, they were one of the only brands I would trust to feel perfect straight away.

"fat pillow shoes"

Whats wrong with pillows? I like soft things. You dont sleep under a sheet of canvas or leather at night, so why subject your feet to that crap..

I miss my moon boots. Nothing better than the feeling of rolling your ankle 180 degrees in those things.

"0 comments" that just proves that no one gives a fuck about the company as it has become, look at that team! I would never ever EVER buy a es video with that team it just doesn't have a vibe which is needed to hype kids up which is where the true money is at.

^"commenting on this page has been disabled by the blog admin".. I for one am really bummed about es going under.. you wouldn't buy a video with mccrank, manderson, worrest, rattray and rodrigo tx in it!? c'mon dude
Ggetrad18 Aug 2011

Ccuntm8noworries18 Aug 2011
i disrespectfully disagree
SSPARKES18 Aug 2011
E's was dope. i'm bummed its gone. i have some seriously fond memories riding around in some of the OG E's shoes. i remember playing Basketball in my koston 2's then going straight to cannon for a skate.....whilst wearing tied up swooshie pants of course and a yellow Alphanumeric shirt. pretty sure Dean Armour is still wearing that exact get up
Ggetrad19 Aug 2011
Dont get me wrong cuntm8noworries, I loved eS.

Only last year I paid a large sum of cash for a pair of Koston3's just to have them as collectors item because I loved them so much.

Im just saying that the new age eS suxed compared to the menikmati and earlyer eS.
RRatings Chief19 Aug 2011

"back in the day we used to buy shoes based on how long each shoes would last"

hahaha i remember these days.
"no rubber toe cap, no lace protection, no ollie bumps yeah fuck that" shoes would last a year easy.

a message from es
Last week, it was announced that ?S is going on hiatus at the end of Spring 2012.

This is a painful decision for everyone involved, and judging from the overwhelming amount of email, Facebook and Twitter support we've received in the last week, our fans, retailers and supporters are bummed as well.

?S has been providing skateboard-specific footwear since 1995. The goal was to make the best shoes we could to support the needs of skateboarders. We're extremely proud of our legacy in footwear and apparel design. We are proud of our riders, videos, tours and the positive and progressive effect we've had on skateboarding.

From now into Spring 2012, business continues for us. We will continue working with our team riders and everyone associated with the brand through this transition.

You may see a bit less from us in the magazines and online, but we will continue to support the thing we love the most, skateboarding, the best we can. ?Sskateboarding.com will be honoring the brand's history through it's timeline, product archives and retrospective content in the coming months.

?S began for the love of skateboarding. 16 years later, we still love skateboarding just as much, if not more than ever before. Wear your ?S with pride and know that we appreciate everyone who has worn down our rubber, kickflipped through our suede and enjoyed time on a skateboard with us.

And remember, if you love something; support it before it's too late.

Gone Skating. Thank you,

eS

Hey getrad,

How much did you pay for your Koston 3's? I still have a brand new boxed pair for sale. They're size 10 in white with red trim. I'm glad I've held onto em now, cause they're gonna be worth more than the $150 asking price I saw over a year ago.

Good to see that e's is only on hiatus. They'll be back! Etnies was on hiatus for a long time before they came back.
SSteele24 Aug 2011
Etnies only when on hiatus because the French owners of the name were stinging Pierre André for too much cash to buy the name... so they started Emerica to replace it (calling the French guys bluff)... then they ended up making a deal to get the Etnies name back.

It was pretty weird as stores that had ordered Etnies shoes got the same shoes but with Emerica on it.

See kids.. Steele is the man with his thumb on the pulse of the skateboarding industry. Thanks for the history lesson mate. Now can you get me back on Etnies? Bahahaaa..
