Every now and then I need to do market research so I know what shit to buy for my shop and what not to.
I want you guys to tell me what to buy, boards brands, shoe brands, whatever. Also what shit that was rad is going downhill.
3 best advisors can win.. how about some navy halfcabs (because i have heaps of them suckers) or if you dont like halfcabs something else in the shoe dept..

Insomniajosh8 Aug 2013For me it would be a wider range of Bones wheels. They are hard to get, especially the SPF ones.
Longboards seem to have dried up (thank fuck) and I have seen more blokes riding more practical shaped boards ie not really a compromise for most skating. Like welcome, the Grosso antiheros and the Lance boards.
With the Park down the road you should look into them new destroyer pads. They look excellent and have had good reviews.
If I was to own a skateshop I would be looking into diversifying my product range in line with trends. How can I form relationships with products I don't have to necessarily keep as stock on hand but can supply as ordered? The DIY and backyard park things comes to mind. Cost out a few obstacles and options with a contactor and make an arrangement. That way if a person wants a ledge, backyard ramp or whatever you can arrange it and make some coin.
Look into forming a relationship with a supplier and stock some lenses and cameras on consignment as a tester.
I
Insomniajosh8 Aug 2013*relationships with suppliers and contractors
thanks Josh
Yeah I like to think I usually have a decent amount of bones (we can only afford to carry so much). To be honest though, I'm pulling back on bones a tad because the new spitties are that good.

snoopy8 Aug 2013Fyve Skateboards have really good deck and a really good clothing line
I know they are also a snowboard company but the skate side of them is really sick and a good crew or riders and employees that all skate heaps
http://shop.fyve.com.au/otherwise the shop in my opinion is going really well
thanks Snoopy - yeah tough one.. I try where possible though to give my dollars to companies/dists who dont push so hard with the whole direct to public thing.

perhaps a more varied range of size 13 shoes. i know there probably isnt a huge demand but it seems like if you have big feet your only choice is cupsole dcs.

sk8parx troll8 Aug 2013do NOT stock brenihana and roo wheels. also call out 24 skateboards on their bullshits and banish endor from parx forever!
D
DocBomb8 Aug 2013small thin wheels, pants i can bunch up- ANYTHING 90's.
Random homewares- skate brand house items are always a hot seller.

cuntm8noworries8 Aug 2013besides the lack of asphalt yacht club you're doing great imo <3
I
imgne_8 Aug 2013I like HalfCabs
Bones is actually a tough one lately, I personally ride the the SPF with the indented cut and that's honestly more for the cut than the wheel itself.
All I can say to add on to what has already been said is, nike is slippin.

walker948 Aug 2013Ripndip is getting pretty sought after in Sydney these days, I noticed you had some stuff in the shop pretty recently and it's pretty rad to support those dudes I suppose. Wouldn't have a clue how they've been selling in the shop though...I (like most) think Chima's are/will sell like hot cakes too...lots of Spitty formula 4's...also weird shaped boards seem to be kicking off especially over in the US right now. Not sure if you've ever seen Welcome skateboards but those weird shapes are everywhere...the whole Mango/Jesse Alba/fluro griptape craze is in full throttle.
I think the Huf + weed print thing is losing momentum (could just be a local thing). Cat/floral print is pretty popular for whatever reason though it seems like...pocket tees too...fuck I could be totally off here. I'd probably ruin your shop within minutes. I swear no one even buys 8" boards anymore, 8.25 is considered small. Maybe I'm just getting older.
W
walker948 Aug 2013Nike might be losing momentum for now but Chronicles 2 is coming out pretty soon, they might ride that wave if people still watch skate videos
yeah walker, you're right about rip and dip, that went quick..
its funny about the chimas, they went real well, so did the kierens. Not sure what it is about aussie sig kicks but they go well where the boards gather dust
Anything DLX, especially the formula fours and Roger.
