basically just behind camera, im using an SB600, i think there were five flashes in this shot, one from low to fill the front grille, two on the bonnet because carbon fiber absorbs so much light, one on the front quarter panels and one from on the rear quarters.

Basically, it's guesswork in regard to exposure....you choose a baseline to start at shoot a frame and then change your settings from there.

It can work, i do have samples of it with the same car but wont have access to them till my wireless network is working again...could be a while.

If you got time, the best things you can do is write down a few ideas and when you have a car worth shooting again take your pad out and try it all...batteries are rechargeable, fuckups are deletable :D

if you dont mind doing it, just sit on the side of a somewhat busy street...just to get the technique.

i thourght you had to be going at the same speed as the car so as to avoid bluring the car shit loads.

nah the whole concept of panning is you move the camera with the car and keep it sharp while the background blurs....shoot around 1/30th initially...main thing is not to get vertical movement.

RE: Miscellaneous Pictures while we're on the topic of cars.. heres an old car one i did..

i wanted to have the grill lit up aswell, but my flash was out of batteries :(

the orange light is a light from the BP, and i had like a 15sec exposure to get nice light from it ^_^
