Yeah something to do with the farmers. Probably something along the lines of the farm animals body clocks or something I would imagine. You know, so the cows don't freak out about getting milked at a different time. Or maybe it's just so it's not still light outside at 9 o'clock, so the farmers can go to sleep in time to get up early and do their morning farm shit. I dunno, someone else have a guess.

How'd you go with that site Justy?

its bit of a hit and miss affair, but i didnt get to check out to much cause i had to go get petrol and some food. but yeah first one you had to pay, second one was in actaul proper music notation, then there was a video one which would of been good but it was on double bass. then there was another one which was an essay and to hard to realy follow.

i book marked it so i will go back and look bit later cause i gotta go to tafe soon. but yeah i wanna find something which has examples as it explains in tab form. so i can actauly play and see how it works. rather than them describe for 60 billion lines and then one bit of tab which is the combination of that whole paragraph that is 60 lines long....

yeah i went to get petrol and i put just under 30 bucks in my car, and i go to pay and i didnt have enough money on my card, so i had to leave my license there and go home and put money on my card. i get home to realise that i was like 1 dollar off being able to afford it. so i put another 6 buckson my card and go back and pay and ask for 5 bucks out in cash. and she gave me 20 and i was like oh no its just 5. i wish i had of taken it, but i would of felt bad cause i know what its like when your register is wrong and you have to make up the difference....

Yeah the theory for jazz bass can be pretty full-on as the modes/scales can change with each chord - you've sorta gotta just follow the chords (and that means knowing all the notes in the scale that the chord is derived from) which can be a bit tricky at times.

haha yeah honesty can be a bitch sometimes eh. I remember one time I had not a cent, had not eaten the day before, and didn't look like eating for the day at work where I was heading. I saw someone drop $10 without noticing. I picked it up and caught up to them to give it back. I was kinda bumming that I missed my chance for some food, but I guess a little proud of myself that I done the right thing, and really fucken hungry haha

yeah, im sure its little things like that that bring on the bad karma....

yeah i kinda slowly getting there. like a song is in a key. and then you can work out what chords you can play from whats in that key. and i know the minor and major shape of chords on bass. so im slowly getting there. i dont realy know how to use good phrasing to change those chords from boring to chords to a rad bass line. and i havnt realy tried working out what chords you can use from the key yet. but i understand how it works. but theres so many possibilities its kinda hard....

Yeah the best bet is probably to start out with a less is more approach, that way your ear can get used to the sound of the notes relative to the key you're in and what not. Just getting used to hearing whether a 6th is natural or not, or whether a 2nd will work at all, but yeah there's so many possibilities the only way really is to play play play. I started out on simpler more blues based jazz, just to get a simple and familiar progression to "work out" on. Not claiming that I'm really any good at jazz, but that worked for me in terms of making learning feel a bit easier for me, and I rarely got complaints, so ah....something.

Oh yeah, and I came to figure that it was more important (or maybe just easier to make it sound right) to know what to play to cover up a wrong note, rather than to have to make sure yo're "on it" 100% of the time. Gives you that little bit of breathing room while you're improvising.

The work is pretty dull, and the pay is kinda average. Most of the people are schmucks. They don't give us sandwiches.
But still, I should imagine hilarity would surely ensue.
