haha the same park was built like 11 years ago(
http://www.skateboard.com.au/v2/index.cfm?smithgrind=view&id=339) 10 mins away . you'd like to think they could at least come up with something different and be able to build it properly .
thanks for the photo update.
so sad.
...maybe the sign should say :
This park is for use by Scooters, Rapists, Bogans, Thugs, Crims and Bums.
Devonport City Council - Genius at work.
the fuck..its actually identical..WHHHHYYYYYYYYY
...working on the plans for the new Bruny park (Allonah) at the moment, likely to start April/May this year. Have made a few tweaks to the original design (from last year).... any comments or suggestions - now is the time.
rosny skatepark is in progress!
feedback..
cut all this out, either none of really can be hit properly or it's just stuff you have in the dirty big bowl anyway.. look at belco "street section" for some ideas on how to fill it
^^^ This is exactly what I was going to suggest. If an opportunity arises to build a skate park not only should you be staying clear of all the failed unpopulated generic designs (most skate parks in Tasmania) but to push the design to the next level i.e Belco, Geelong, Rosebud etc. Obviously these parks have had greater funding but incorporating sections of these parks into the design will be well received by the skate community. Skateboarding has changed - Tasmanian skateparks need a change.
PS - This is in no way an attack on anyone, I am just voicing an opinion.
basically fuck all that off and rip off clifton hill
...points taken.. will work on it.
Again, this becomes more of a challenge because of the size of the area we have to work within. The whole park is just 25mx 25m. Would be great to have a large site like Belco. If we had the amount money they had to build Belco, we could build a park twice the size of Belco.
What's happening with Rosny???
Gelong waterfront - $4million (+design fee)
Allonah, Brunh - $140,000 + in-kind (donations of labour etc) - no design fee - Built by local surfers/concreters.
Nobody has asked for Geelong or Belco , Clifton Hill or Rosebud. We are only suggesting that you take some inspiration from some of the obstacles used at these parks rather than the same old tired designs that get dished up.
Please don't use the price differential as justification to bring out the same old 90s designs.
I will say it again - "Obviously these parks have had greater funding but incorporating sections of these parks into the design will be well received by the skate community."
If your using the "not enough area space or funds" explanation - I really don’t see how the given area and funds cannot be used to create a park for example simular to Beibel, Dylan Rieder & Marc Johnson's private park park which is roughly the same area space with well constructed obstacles ranging from - wall ride type banks, mini vert corner with pool copping, generic flat rail and hubba attached to a quarter on the other side, chuck in a taco ledge/quarter and some sort of pole jam and you have got a project worth taking to the next process.
The issue with most parks is there is no variation - you hit the hubba, you hit the rail, you hit the quarter - there is nothing in the parks to keep you coming back to find new lines or skate the obstacle with a different approach. If I had anything to do with park development I would be contacting Luke (insert last name) from Canberra - this guy obviously has great knowledge and most importantly understands current skateboarding.
...sketch layout, image tomorrow.
http://www.skateparks.net.au/previous-projects/page.phppretty much anything like the parks on that site would be sweeet
^^^^^
what that guy posted would be amazing... does every park really need some ridiculous bowl in it? surely there is enough in tassie to satisfy anyone with bowl hunger... anyway they should grow some nuts and just skate the OG bowl!
If you're building a skate park make sure you have:
shade
seats
water fountain
somewhere to park my dog
It's so shit when you're pushing mongo all day long and you have no shady spots to sit, and you have to fork out $4 for bottled water.
agreed?
