i have forum yougblood 155cm wide and my mate had just 155cm normal
theirs not that much of a difference...maybe 1 or 2cm wider....i went with the wide coz it fit my bindings a lil better
.....in saying that that was with forum boards...dont know how much difference between wide and normal their is on other board brands

as you have said scotty. the wides r only a little bit wide to accomodate for shoe/binding sizes 11+
generally only a 2-3cm difference in width.
just depends on the brand and model really
if your a size 11or above go for the wide boards if possible
itll help eliminate heel and toe drag
my 155 ride kink is a fairly fat board.
but my 123 rossignol mini is about the same width.
im a size 10 in boardboots soo i wide board suits me just fine.
yeah im a 10 in boots as well...my old burton custom bindings gave my toes a bit of hangover on the edge of a normal youngblood 155cm...and the wide accomadated them perfectly...my new bindings and boots are alot smaller but still i dont mind...if u look at it scientifically to do with surface area/balance and shit ud think that a wider board would move more freely through powder???? pus that little bit more of weight in your board?

grouse and seymore areboth shut now, blackcomb is still open and i still have my season pass there but im strapped for cash and whis is a drain on the hip pocket haha.
