Contrast and over saturation is a very obvious thing in skateboarding as its generally visually more exciting.. doesnt mean it's right.
I personally think it makes your photo muddier and your blacks start to blend the skateboarder into the background in the second one.

Take the david gonzales globe ad above my text box as an example. Someone needs to chill on a curve cause he is a black blob in that.

Thanks man, I definitely agree to an extent, it just depends I guess.

I've had good responses on this type of contrast before rather than it being darker so yeah, It influenced me.
