here are a couple from me for people to pick apart :)
reece alleyoop back 180
floyd.
tried to make this spot look interesting without using flashes or changing lenses. didn't really work but oh well.
ok this may sounds like a really noob question but it has some sense to it. what techniques do you use to get your perfect focus? ie. getting that sharp focus for a trick on down stair set, fisheye angles etc.
sometimes it can difficult . Sure if the skater takes a while to get the trick you can tweak your focus but if your being rushed it can be a whole different story.. ive heard people put an object, like a hat on a light stand and then place it where they "think" the skater is going to be. works well for setting up stobes too
im assuming everyone just focus' at infinitiy but i could be wrong.
back 180 is sick natedawg
Redjunt...
Easiest way is to get the skateboard to hold up his board.. focus on stickers..
If you're really far away and shooting with a small depth of field it can be hard.. try tripod it and I dont know if you can do it with whatever camera you are using, but if you can, go to LiveView and scroll right in to 100% and find focus and then go back to normal. That one comes in super handy.
Fisheye, dont set to infinity.. bound to be soft.
Either focus manually by getting skater to hold up a board, or, I don't know what lens you're using, but most should have focus guidelines, so if you can get your aperture up high enough to say 8, 11, 16... there will be those numbers on either side of the glass where the distance thing is on your focus ring.. if you can guess how far away they are, keep it within those markers and you'll be in focus. Fisheye focus has a much bigger margin for error, but you gotta be at a reasonably small (high number) aperture.
Hope that makes sense.. I kinda just go by distance most of the time if my aperture is cranked high enough. Otherwise I'll ask for a focus.. If it's super rushed, try find something on the ground or something about the same distance away as what you think the skateboarder will be and where they are going to be in the frame and focus to that and then recompose.
:)
Max, the vibe of that photo is off the chain, sunny days!
Been shooting regularly, haven't posted for a while though.
Jamie Keating - Varial Heel
Adam Haydec -floating down some train station steps, count em up boys.
i wish u shot the ollie with abit more of a loose angle to really appreciate how big that set is. i can see how big it is but i just want to see it in comparison to the surroundings if you know what i mean..
Yeah I would have liked to as well, unfortunately I was sitting in a tree set as wide as I could. Thanks for the heads up though!
here's my 18 stair hammer
nahhhhhh gammin switch suski at da ghetto spowt
Gareth melon the channel, in this gem of a backyard mini.
adam back 180.
I only had 2 flashes and couldn't light up the spot properly, so I took 2 photos and did a sort of rough hdr thingy. It's really hard to line up fisheye photos, you can see the sloppy masking job
Composition, contrast, sharpness, so spot on Andy, sick flick.
How fun is that spot walker! That's really cool shooting a somewhat simple ledge trick and making it interesting to look at.
scrap the word simple, somehow skipped over the fact it was switch.
Meant to say it's impressive example of an aesthetically pleasing photo on a simple ledge...
... or some shit like that
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md00e1LWpL1qjd7fqo1_1280.jpgsequence i shot today.

haha cheers cam, the spot is legendary!
Dean Johnston Front 5-0 from the other day.
@natedawg, any chance you could tell me where that spot is that you shot the back 180?
