I heard if you work for free you can be the team manager of any company you want.. Probably not the best thing for our industry and keep the fuck wits out... Seems even in these hard times fuck wits are still trying to stay with skateboarding and are not going back to the industries they truly belong in...
Kinda like sports / event management.
I see that the comedy industry is thriving...well at least it is in this thread.

I'm Blown away and totally stoked (because I have been waiting for this) that you owned up to what you do and have done to taint our industry! What you have done for your own benefit has actually fucked up what many people with in the industry have been trying to stop for a long time. This Golden Rule you speak of is not a rule yet common sense.
You say you tried to help Stussy but in the end it is never a person with no skating influence and business sense or savvy that is going to help or convince anyone. What was your business plan to help a licensed company such as Stussy get market share and accepted by the skate industry and translate in $$$$ for a public company such as Pac Brands??? You are wearing cool clothes and you got some packages to the skaters. So you helped kids that had issues with getting packages. Maybe that brand should not have been saved. The skaters probably would have got picked up by something different that actually had a future. What is happening with Stussy now. It is being sold!!!! There is a bigger picture than this that you did not address. Pac Brands owned Stussy and by your foolish move this then translated to issues that we had at Volleys. You go in there and work for them for free and then all of a sudden the General Managers get together for their annual meetings and compare notes and meanwhile Volleys are paying a skate team legit payments and then Stussy's (Stussy's turn over was 10 times of what Volleys was) skate team not only doesnt have to do shit for them but they have a guy looking after it for free. Well done. I am glad your training came about by ruining something else and peoples lives. Think about our team at Volleys and the influential people behind it and what they think of you and what that translates too???. There are many people with in the industry that are quite pissed off with you...
I am glad you are stoked to have kids smile and say how rad you are dude because being king of the kids only lasts for so long. Just hope that the kids you are hooking up fall out of skating and you find the next lot of suckers.
Fuker: if you want to a job in skateboarding start at a shop and study a business degree or do some work assisting a PAID team manager I am sure that people with in the industry like the Great Skater and Team/marketing guy "SPARKS" will be hyped along with Mappy. Maybe we need to have work experience for these kids.
People who are traditionally TM's have skated for a long time or have been around and involved with the industry for a long time. They get paid as they have to pay bills. This not only helps their pocket but it keeps money in the industry and keeps it honest. Look at Mapstone he is still in Magazines. He rips and he is legit. I have watched Mapstone shape our industry with his Older brother Andrew for over 15 years it is insane. They are Legit! TM's in the USA are people like Chet Thomas, Bill Weiss and I can go on for ever...
Your with Adidas for free as well and I even heard Converse too how does that work??? Two conflicting companies...I hope they know??? The other issue is that these companies are fucking transplants into skateboarding who have so much money it is ridiculous and you are doing it for free!!!!!

Choder Boy: Ask Jake Duncombe and most of the Pro's you probably like about management. They have managers to make sure that they get shit done and also to make sure that they get paid properly. Why skate for free when your worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Skateboarding is mass market and is one of the biggest industries in the USA. It is the same size as the Snow and Surf industries put together in the USA!!!!
You know what, I have been Paid to do what I do for over 10 years. I also help get people Paid to do what they do as well with in our industry! Stop fucking it up to be cool!

We had sell through but the issue was to do with people doing shit for free. We were asked to skate for free and Glen was asked to take a huge pay cut and work it part time because of this stupidity! We would have continued but we all agreed that this is bad for the industry and now Volley is gone. It would have kept going if it was committed to and not under cut by idiots!

Not bummed at Volleys mate...Always can move on. There is a bigger picture. There are more peoples jobs at stake here. What about if Brian Wilson said fuck it Im over the Beach boys and now I am going to go for a job as TM at a company and the next thing you know they say well shit we used to pay but now its just industry standard to do it for free! I think Brian will go straight back to Kokomo!

i would have to agree with trev in what he is saying. im not in the skateboard industry but i do own my own business and quite frankly i get sick of these people we call "fly by nighters" coming through and ruining what work we have done to make it a better world for all who have been around for along time!!! to anyone who is interested getting into any industry my advise is pay your dues and work hard because this shit takes yrs to build properly!!! its the big nuts with lots of money and no brains are the ones that ruin it...

Not the one he has just made up for himself. I always just laughed at the team manager claims and thought it was just gay but after reading your story trev the gloves are off. Idiots in the building industry ruined all the awards that where hard fought for with shit like this . At one point i got a 200 dollar a week pay cut. And had to pretty much re apply for my job. Trev, im in my second year or uni and im studying business doin a double degree in marketing and management and have done some work experience with volcom, im pretty much looking to make a connection with who ever i can within the industry so i can focus my skills learnt at uni towards something i love and enjoy if you would been kind enough to allow me to email you i would greatly appreciate it, i actually about a year ago sent an email enquiring about work experince to the evolution website but didnt get a reply
