I made my own not long back.
I cut down an old Baker board into the shape I wanted, chucked some loose indys and soft wheels on there. It's so fun.

Tonight in the city, I saw about eight 'skaters' in five minutes. They all had Penny boards or hipster cruisers. It's getting out of hand.

Real skateboarders are starting to become the minority.

i think cruisers are awesome and this is why!

real skateboarders are talented people who are basically role models to kids, youth and people who froth on skateboarding.
Unfortunately there are not that many talented people in this world when it comes to skateboarding however people still love to do it. So how are skate shops suppose to make money if there are only a handful of real skateboarders. your answer is 'cruiser boards'. you dont have to be amazingly talented to ride one however can still have heaps of fun while fitting in and looking flash.
keep the real skateboards for real skateboarders.... even though there's nothing wrong with owning both and using your cruiser to head down and grab a hot dog and thickshake.

I have a cruiser also. i wish i had a photo to upload.
it's a folklore mid school deck with indy (thrasher) trucks and Ricta cloud wheels. its so good for the road and my KFC trips.

Popsgood,

two things:

one, I think you stole my cruiser setup... (how do clouds roll)

two, you (as have many others) have read wayy too much into this.

I had that same board for a while Drew. Same setup as you but some 52mm's. I have heaps of fun on boards like that at the park, it was such a nice shape, wish it didn't break haha.

I started rollin about on an Alley Cat skateboard (a cruiser) in the early 80's and been hooked ever since. Have a 4 year old nipper now and he loves his cruiser. Just rollin about is the mutts nuts and if it gets new crew into it then it can't be bad.

The board I started on in 1968 was more like a Penny than a popsicle, and I still skate all kinds of boards.....(but not so well anymore)
4 wheels..... One deck......to me Is a real skateboard.
Skating anything on any kind of board........ And not caring about what anyone else skates..... To me that is a "real skateboarder"

Limiting yourself to one style of board or one style of skating is ....um... Limited.
Trying to impose limits on anyone else says more about your limits than theirs!

cruiser boards are good...., specially when youre starting off....or too old to ollie!

Went to the local today, 15 dudes (not kids, cause they drove there) on scooters, only one or two dudes on skateboards... Wishing even a couple had any kind of skateboard, which would have been way better than scooter retards in the park all day.

Bring back the cruiser board - might just become the only board you can ride one day, so embrace it while you can.
