The meeting was very positive and numerous discussions took place, the main talking point was about users having respect for Brisbane Skate Parks.
The message is a simple one, put your rubbish in the bins provided and encourage others to do so to keep the park tidy. You should be proud of your local park, so do your bit to make sure it looks good.
It is worth mentioning, delivery of Stage 2 is dependent on people respecting the park and keeping it tidy. Imagine Stage 2 not going ahead because some people are too lazy to put their rubbish in the bin? What a travesty for current and future skaters left with a half-baked skate park.
From the Brisbane Skateboarding Association's point of view, we would really like the Skate Community as a whole respect Brisbane Skate Parks as it serves as a better chance for us to convince Brisbane City Council of providing more Skate Parks in the future. If Brisbane City Council spend millions of dollars on a park and people are perceived as not respecting the park then Council will think, 'why bother spending that much on the skaters if that's all their going to do to the facilities'. Respect the Skate Parks and have fun, the parks are a public space for all ages and users to enjoy.

FYI - The works out at Bracken Ridge Skate Park are not finished yet, there's still some concrete to be poured - which will need to cure, as well as some landscaping to be finalised.
Brisbane City Council have requested that people stay off the park until it is open to the public.

There are still a little bit of work to do on the park and landscaping but it will be open Sunday afternoon after 12pm - 14th February, 2016.
At Brisbane City Council's request, please respect the park by putting any rubbish/litter in the bins and looking after the landscaping so that it has time to settle and will hold up better in the long term.
We've worked pretty hard with Council over the last 5 years to get these parks built for you so don't trash them.

Repost from @duty_now ...back in 2008, the universe sent me a pretty loud, clear message that it was time for me to move on from operating my own skateboard distribution company and now in 2016, after working in and giving my all, to the skateboard industry for around 22 years and being an active skateboarder for more than 40 years I have finally made the decision to step away from skateboard distribution...
