Great story over at @transworldskate regarding the liberation of LA'S famous "Court House". If you haven't heard.... The Court House is now a legal "skate space" !!!! The potential for us to have something similar in Sydney is almost overwhelming !!!! Please @clovermoore @cityofsydney we still aren't making any progress with your promises regarding "skate facilities" in the Sydney CBD. Let's stop wasting time! We are sick and tired of being treated like 2nd class citizens. We are just as entitled to public spaces as the rest of the community.....
Please get down to MONA VALE memorial hall Monday, 15th of December to help ensure this facility finally becomes a reality. POWER IN NUMBERS will ensure that council make a decision in our favour. Please share this image. (Note: that the above mock up IS NOT the final design! A new design will be created if the facility is approved Monday!) thank you !
PLEASE READ: It's absolutely IMPERATIVE that you email every single councillor listed above before the meeting on the 15th of December. You must write in favour of the land sale within Kitchener Park Mona Vale. If the sale of this land is not approved....there will be no skate park. Council have only received objections so far ! PLEASE EMAIL ALL CONTACTS LISTED ABOVE ASAP ! It will only take 1 minute of your time. Tell your parents, family and friends. The more emails council receive the more likely we are to succeed (yeah... that rhymes). GET TYPING !
Last night we discussed plans with the @cityofsydney for new facilities situated at Johnston's Creek (Glebe), Green Square, Sydney Park and once again reminded Lord Mayor @clovermoore that we haven't forgotten her promise regarding a city (skate) park made almost a year ago today. It was fantastic to finally be awarded the opportunity to speak with Clover face to face and we sincerely hope we can work together in catching up to the rest of the world when it comes to inner city skate parks. As always....A huge thanks to our good friend and industrious advocate @clrlindascott who always has Sydney skateboardings back thank you Linda !
CALLAN PARK HAS BEEN APPROVED !!!! Firstly, massive props must be awarded to @david_cragg and many more who have been fighting for this for an eternity ! Huge thanks to everyone who came along, supported and spoke ! We must congratulate all councillors and the madam mayor for speaking so positively of this facilities construction and of skateboarding in general. When we continually get told by @clovermoore and @cityofsydney there isn't room for a city park something of this magnitude gets built on HERITAGE LISTED LAND ! What an achievement ! I'm sure The Lord Mayor is familiar with this site....I hope this achievement is dearly noted by her and fellow city of Sydney staff. Lastly - huge thanks to the "friends of Callan Park" for their support and trust. Thank you for letting us add colour and life to this already beautiful space.
MONA VALE AND NORTHERN BEACHES CREW !!!! Once again.... We need your support! Next Monday the 2nd of Feb, 6:00pm we go back to memorial hall and make sure council stay true to their word ! The opposition will be there too ! Let's show them how much support this skate park has and guarantee a win! If you want this to happen you must attend. See you all Monday !
CALLAN PARK (ROZELLE) - Jump onto our Facebook page (link in our bio) to check out the two options for Callan Park which are currently on public exhibit. Once on our page you can even take a survey and have your say regarding the design. Get involved and let the council/design team know what you think ! A decision will be made by April. @david_cragg @enlocus
SYDNEY - help us make Harmony Park a skate friendly zone! Email your support to the addresses above. It's as simple as "This email is to show my support for skateboarding in Harmony Park". If you're a local resident or rider please state your address ! It will take two minutes of your time. Please share this post and help us ensure public spaces in Sydney remain "free" and "available to all users!" No one is entitled to this space..... It's for everyone to enjoy! Thank you.
