Yo Yoshi,

Can you tell me any info for queenstown? Like price of season pass, accom price and all that jazz! Much appreciated!

Yoshi... 15:01 27/Apr/14

Hey man,
Im arranging a viewing for a house on May 7th (day I get into Queenstown) cause you can't set a house up unless you have a reppresentive over there to view for you. But for a one bedroom place it like $250-$350 a week. I just got a Queenstown pass which is The Remarkables and Coronet peak when they were early bird but they are $1300 now. Getting over there early to make sure I get an alright job and place to live. Haven't done a season there before but looks like a pretty sweet place to live.

Yoshi & GhostFace

I've been in QT for nearly two months now, its so rad, you guys are going to love it, BUT... accommodation this year has been a massive hassle. I've spoken to various real estates and they don't know why but there is barely any rental properties becoming available. From what I understand, a lot of summer riders have stuck around so that might explain a bit. I originally came across with four mates, two left for their own reasons and I still haven't been able to get a flat with the other guy. I ended up having to get a solo room in a share house just to get myself out of the backpackers! if you haven't got anything lined up I suggest you get the "Lakes Weekly" and look for rentals in there. You'll have a much better chance than asking real estates.

As far as Passes go, I got mine early bird and paid around $900 which included Remarks and Coronet, but as Yoshi said its more expensive now. If you need a board/gear there is a second hand gear market held at the events centre at the end of next month, also.

Jobs are ok, its starting to pick up a bit. I work in Structural Engineering so I managed to have something sorted before I got here (thank fuck). You should be able to get something in hospitality no worries! again, look in the lakes weekly or just hand out resumes, but make sure you speak to a manager or chase it up a few days after if you don't. Oh, and say you're here for at least 12 months!

hope this sheds some light.

hey lads,

im heading to japan mid november and want to get a week of snowboarding in. i've never been to japan but want to know what in your opinions would be the best spot for a week of boarding plus chilling and drinking beers. and a rough estimate of how much cash i'll need for the week with lift pass, board hire, accom, etc.

i haven't been arsed doing any research yet just wanted to know what you fellas thought since a bunch of you seem to hit up japan a bit.

thank you

womble. 01:36 26/Aug/14

When in November?

Your best bet would probs be Niseko for that time of year, though no guarantees (kinda like asking where you can go skiing in Aus in April)...

Owashi lodge is cheap & nasty but >1min walk to the closest lift & 500kr in the basement bar. They also have a kitchen & only 2min walk to the supermarket.
That being said, if you're just bumming around Tokyo area of Japan, you'll have to fly there at ~$300 return from Narita minimum.
